Reviews
"The teachers are wonderful at John Muir. Priniciple, Asst. Principle and the office administration are very welcoming and care their students. My daughter is very happy with her education at John Muir. She learned so much from this school. She has the utmost respect for her peers, teachers, and her principle is approachable to answer her questions."
"As a parent of 2 kids who have attended, I will say Muir was on the upswing until a few years ago. Most of the teachers are excellent and dedicated, but I have some recent concerns about lack of effective disciplinary action and less emphasis on tailoring lesson plans to the ability of the child."
"I have two children who currently attend and a third who will start there next year. Our children are receiving an excellent education and have had the opportunity to talk about race and society in a thoughtful and responsible manner appropriate to their development. The staff at John Muir are supportive of the academic as well as social-emotional needs of our children and we could not be happier with the school."
"It's really a shame so many racist bigots have gotten on google to write ill informed hateful comments about John Muir Elementary. Three of my children have attended this school and we are completely delighted with the education they received. We are also very glad they have part of a community that cares about the rights of people of all races, ethnicities and religions. It is unfortunate that not all children have this same opportunity."
"What is disgraceful is so many of these so called concerned parents that would never even crack their mouths to even discuss the type of hateful and discriminatory travesties that are taking place against black Americans and have been for centuries UNLESS the schools dared to do it first. All you with hateful and critical things to say do not attend meetings to try and solve nor are you aware of the depths in which SPS is failing to educate black children. Quite frankly none of you care because all you do is get on the internet and yap about it. I applaud the school for making an attempt to connect with the population of black children instead on letting them blindly float about in a system that ignores them and teach the lies that perpetuate the issue we have with race as a nation. When you know better you do better and I would suggest you nay sayers get some knowledge. Shame on you. But let them wear "Holocaust survivors lives matter" when teaching about that historical event and none of you would protest that. I have two black sons that attend school in this district and have had to have conversations with the principal and teachers about where the diversity and cultural inclusion of the black experience lacks in their curriculum. Not only lacks, but is ignored, short changed and completely disregarded in areas where it is very relevant. Not just MLK and Rosa parks.I pay taxes the same as you critics. You gripe about T-shirts regarding your tax money. I am concerned about my tax money funding my black children being taught ridiculous lies like George Washington wore wooden braces, when in fact he wore dentures made of the teeth he had yanked out of his slaves mouths. You worry about your taxes supporting anti law enforcement you feel is disguised as a racial equality group and I worry about racial inequality wearing the badges of law enforcement and my children receiving a haphazard education at the expense of their culture. I got a list of solutions for that problem that doesn't have anything to do with wearing T- shirts and everything to do with the curriculum and a perception shift. Where are your solutions???? We have enough complaints.Domestic terrorism? Because BLM is systematically exterminating law enforcement?????? You are ill informed, ignorant at best and a huge part of the problem. GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORTABLE BOX IF YOU ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT CHANGE AND EQUALITY."
