"We loved our tour of the Myers House! We opted for a guided tour with Christine who was absolutely PHENOMENAL! She was a great story teller and knew so much about both the Myers family/house as well as Norfolk history in general. I would say to definitely utilize the awesome knowledge of the guides when you visit for a fun and interesting visit. MEYERS HOUSE IS A MUST SEE SPOT IN NORFOLK!!!"
"What an incredible historical tour this was. So much of the original house has been maintained due to the fact that it is the same family that is maintained ownership of it. It really is like going back in time! Tour guide didn't excellent job!"
"If you're a fan of history and looking for learn more about the city of Norfolk, I highly recommend visiting the Myers House. Here, you'll learn about the Myers, prosperous Jewish family, as well as a wealth of information about the Norfolk and time they lived in. Admission is free, and we were able to get a guided tour during our visit. Our host Alex was extremely knowledgeable, and I felt extremely fortunate to have him show us around."
"The Myers House is among the best historical house tours I’ve been on. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and able to answer any questions off the cuff (it didn’t feel like a memorized/scripted experience). I really didn’t know anything about the history of Jewish families in Norfolk, and the information I learned here was fascinating—some just generally about the Federalist style, too. There are also so many great stories and tidbits throughout the house that you wouldn’t know just by looking at the architecture, like the history behind the gold leaf on one of the fireplaces (no spoilers). I also appreciate that this museum is expanding its exhibit to include the history of enslaved people in the house. As our guide said, “It was their home too, even though they didn’t choose it.” I wish we could’ve stayed for longer, we got there 45 minutes before closing, but given that it was basically a private tour with a super knowledgeable person, I could’ve stayed for 3 hours asking questions."
"This museum was one of my favorite experiences while visiting Norfolk. The tour guides were so nice and very informative. We learned so much about the family and history of the home. Definitely recommend stopping here for this unique experience."
