Reviews of Jamestown Historic Ship Museum
"Great place to spend the weekend with your family!"
"Nice awesome historical place!"
"Two of the three boats were closed. (Could be because of the weekday, but it was crowded) great history and the people knew their stuff!"
"For me, the Jamestown Historic Ship Museum presents one of the most unmissable experiences of the Jamestown Settlement. Featuring replicas of the Discovery, Godspeed, and Susan Constant, visitors are invited to climb aboard the largest of the ships, the Susan Constant, and view cabins, walk the decks, admire cannons, and gaze down into the cargo hold, all while attempting to imagine yourself on such a ship several hundred years ago. Guides are available throughout the ship, ready to answer any questions that visitors might have about the ship, settlers, slavery, or the environment. One of my only criticisms is that the Historic Ship Museum allows the replica ships to speak for themselves and, while that might be obvious, I believe a little more attention to the dock in the form of plaques, signs, or even props that makes the pier feel a little more ‘alive’ would entertain visitors while waiting to board the ship, which can become crowded quickly. Despite the impressiveness all of the exhibits at Jamestown, the Historic Ship Museum possessed a special significance for me, as an English immigrant to the United States, and standing on the banks of the James River onboard a replica of the ship that carried my countrymen four centuries prior to me stepping foot there was something I wouldn’t have missed. I’d recommend all to take the opportunity to walk down to the dock and take in an unmissable opportunity to engage with history."
"Excellent experience here flying my drone over these old ships ."
