"I took the 6 hour barbeque grilling and smoking class two weeks ago and put what I learned to good use over Memorial Day. I recently bought a Traeger grill and took the class to learn how to best use it. I am very glad I did. They teach so much in the six hour class that it is important to get the disk they sell after class to remind yourself of things they told you plus it has a great many recipes. I plan on taking follow on classes there that teach additional skills like cooking seafood, cooking pizza, making gourmet burgers, cooking the perfect steak and the "Pig Out" class where they cook an entire pig! Their on site store also has a great many tools you will find useful. We cooked so much food that even after everyone packed up leftovers to take home, there was additional food left on the table! I highly recommend the class. Oy yes, bring a jacket because you will be outdoors part of the time and the school is in an industrial complex with a big garage door opening to the grill area so it can get cold in the classroom. Also you will not start eating until 2:00 so you might want to bring a snack or eat a good breakfast before arriving and remember to bring whatever you want to drink with the food you will be cooking."
"The worst. We didn't actually barbecue but watch them. The food was way over spiced and was gross because we do it as a mutual group. Do not Learn anything. Epic fail!"
"I picked up a sweet deal for this place on Travelzoo, which was about 6 dollars cheaper than Groupon or Living Social. Me and some friends went out to take the class. First of all, the school is bring your own beverages. Wait, let me back up. First of all, the school is in a little commercial complex. You want to get there early if you intend to cook with your friends. As soon as tables fill, your group may be spread throughout the tables. Also, the groups didn't do a good job of consolidating themselves. They walk you through a powerpoint presentation that is a LOT of slides of preparing different kinds of meats, but content depends on which class you sign up for. You don't go over steaks in the BBQ 101 class, for example. That is a more advanced class. Also, if you intend on actually cooking during the day, be sure to volunteer to help the guys out with what is already cooking. Things you prepare in your class will either be consumed by the next class, as the prep time takes a lot longer than the class itself, or it is for you, but in the oven. The workers of the school do almost all of the actual cooking. In order to have the food ready in time to eat by the class, they start some of the smoking at 3am for that day's class. So consider that. This is a fun group activity, but if you are really hoping to learn a ton, expect to learn a couple cool tidbits and the rest are things you'll forget and need to look up when you get home."
"Knowledgeable folks teach you varying BBQ or Smoking concepts. It is an all-day class so come prepared with drinks; they will feed you plenty of food. Came away with plenty of tips, tricks, and concepts to try out at home. You walk outside frequently to check grills & smokers so take this class during the nicer weather. Overall would definitely recommend."
