"These guys really care about helping their clients. They proved to me they would rather give you an idea to save money rather than trying to do something because they know they will make money. They watch out and care for your pockets. Good people. At least Chris is who I dealt with."
"We are a small, local developer / builder and have been using Balzer and Associates since 1998 and have always had great service from them. They are very responsive and customer oriented. I would highly recommend Balzer and Associates for any surveying or land development work."
"In working with Balzer & Associates I experienced misrepresentation of services, general laziness, lack of client service, and an unwillingness to address legitimate concerns about their work product. My wife and I purchased a wood-frame farmhouse 65 miles from downtown Richmond that we are restoring ourselves. While the house is erect and walkable, we were advised to consult with a P.E. on the general integrity of the structure due to it being over 200 years old and having lots of deferred maintenance. We were put into contact with Randy Tritt of Balzer & Associates and explained our budget for this report and expectations. The response was that their services could be made more affordable but did not specify how much. We were put in touch with Katie Goodman from the firm who conducted the site inspection while I was present. Katie made some helpful observations and took interior measurements of each room as well as exterior measurements and photos during the site inspection, which lasted about 2 hours. I assisted Katie in taking some of these measurements and while doing this provided her with further details regarding our intentions with the house, which is to keep the existing building footprint and layout unchanged. After multiple follow-ups and delays, the structural letter arrived four weeks after the date of the site inspection. It was three pages long, did not include any photos, and only had one reference to a measurement taken from the site inspection. More importantly, the letter was filled with boilerplate language about the property that had little to no value to us. Only three bullet points outlined the entire site project; the rest was filler. Instead of including the measurements into the letter, Katie Goodman advised us to “call the office”. We voiced our concern and asked Katie and Randy to explain what was the purpose of the measurements and photos if they were not included. Randy responded and explained the “typical process” for these types of residential projects, which referred to architectural and design drawings, contractor approval, permitting process and DHR approval, none of which were applicable for what we engaged Balzer & Associates to do. Randy also failed to provide a direct response to our concerns about the lack of measurements and photos. Either the measurements and photos were a "bait and switch" ploy so that we would hire them again for more comprehensive work in the future, or just general laziness. And when we requested more detailed information and never received a response. While we paid the $1,800 invoice, we are incredibly disappointed in our experience with Balzer & Associates. I do not recommend this firm."
"Jeff was amazing! Communicated every step of the way. I'm sure it was frustrating dealing with such an old property (and especially dealing with me) - I appreciate everything he did."
"Very professional company. I called many international area and they were above and beyond the best when it came to returning calls and answering my questions. Prices are inline with industry. I was on a tight timeline and they were able to accommodate my schedule. Took off one star because my plat was delivered 2 days after it was promised. I also respect the fact that they were busy. Everyone I talked to was professional and helpful."
