Reviews of Page Vawter House
"Wow! We went for the Christmas Tour and it did not disappoint. The owners were very friendly and knowledgeable. The house is breathtaking decorated for Christmas. I cannot wait for another tour. Maybe in the spring?"
"A beautiful, historic home tucked away in the West Virginia mountains. Anthony and Dana were gracious hosts who were very knowledgeable about the history of the home and eager to share its uniqueness. Our room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Would definitely return."
"We stayed three nights in this beautiful house in Ansted. The house is beautiful and the room and our bed very comfortable. I only saw Dana once on our second day so I admit I felt a bit abandoned. But then again, we got along fine alone. On the down side, - the house is rather dark inside and the kitchen, though relatively well equipped, had no table so we had to eat on the front porch on a coffee table. Not the most convenient way to eat a meal. - One other quirk, to get to the bathroom (which was also beautiful) in the hall you walk down several steps and the up several steps. At night, in the relative dark, you really need to pay attention so as not to stumble. But I got by just fine. On the positive side, - the house is perfectly located to visit New River Gorge region. Three days was not enough to enjoy all the trails and waterfalls. We walked hours along the cliffs without meeting but a handful of other walkers. It is a simply amazing place to visit ! - the house is beautifully decored! At least a hundred years old, you get that authentic homestead feeling just sitting on the porch overlooking the beautiful great lawn. - It is very quite. We spent each evening on the quiet front porch with a cold beer to watch the dear and the fireflies at sun set. Finally, Ansted is a small village and the Page Wauter House is probably the best - despite the small quirks - to be found for miles. Dana and her husband have done a great job renovating their home and as they are just starting out an I expect the "quirks" will be fixed as time goes on. I would definitely stay again if I get the chance to go back ! I wish them success!"
"We (my husband and I) had a wonderful stay at the Page-Vawter House. The house is beautifully restored. It's like stepping back in time, but with modern conveniences. Dana is a very attentive and knowledgeable proprietor. She and Antho know the history of the house very well. They gave us a tour and answered our many questions. We spent some time on the front porch enjoying the view and relaxing. We also took a hike on the Hawk's Nest Rail Trail. It is just a few minutes away. Being so close to a state park and a national park, there are many opportunities to get out and enjoy nature. We hope to stay here again."
"My fiancé surprised me with a birthday getaway here, and it was such an incredible and deeply relaxing experience. The Page Vawter house is beautiful, the owners have done, and continue to do, an incredible job restoring the home and preserving the history! The prices are incredibly reasonable for what you experience, and honestly I can't wait to go back! Additionally, you're minutes away from spectacular natural beauty and hikes galore - this is the perfect place to start from, return to relax, in the midst of exploring this beautiful area."
