Reviews
"Dr. Stevens is a life saver! She is helping me with my eating disorder and diabetes management. She is very caring and in tune with me and all of my complex medical needs. Best doctor I have ever had. And her MA, Alaina, is amazing!"
"Dr. Stevens has been truly wonderful to work with, and I’m honestly shocked to see any negative reviews. To me, It’s clear that she genuinely cares so much for her patients and their wellbeing. Our work together has always been collaborative and she has always made it 100% clear why her recommendations are what they are when it comes to medications or anything else. She and staff at her practice are always kind and go out of their way. I appreciate that the office has a blind weight scale and weight, (loss or gain) is never a focus at my visits. I have always recommend Dr. Stevens highly to anyone struggling with an eating disorder, metabolic disorders, and general mental health concerns. She has been paramount in my healthcare journey and I’m so grateful to her and her staff."
"I'm honestly really shocked at the negative reviews. I'm a fairly new patient and already Dr. S and Alaina have gone above and beyond for me. I've never received such kindness from a medical team. I reached out to her by email, and was contacted the next day and scheduled. She immediately began tests and discovered a lot of things that have been brushed over for 5+ years by other providers. She spent a long time talking to me about results. She would pause and ask if I had questions and made sure I understood what she was explaining. I appreciate that she asked to think on med changes rather than deciding right on the spot. It shows me that she cares and wants to make sure she chooses the best fit. I was also placed on similar medications other reviewers were. I also don't have the "primary use" condition of the medications. However, I understand that medications generally have more than one purpose/use/function. One medication can help multiple conditions. She was also very clear in explaining that. I really appreciate all the help she has done for me. I'm actually feeling hopeful about my health for once."
"I began seeing Dr Samara Stevens when she was a medical student in early 2018, what started as a decent experience with my medical care, turned into a nightmare for me. In the beginning, she monitored my vitals appropriately and intervened with the appropriate treatment whenever was necessary for orthostatic vitals. She saved my life in the early years of my treatment with her, which is why this next part is so confusing. At a certain point she started drawing labs and talking about medications to “support my metabolism”. Here’s the thing, MY LABS WERE NORMAL, save for known genetic conditions that weren’t going to change with the medications she was about to put me on. She put me on diabetes and epilepsy medications for “metabolic syndrome” and weight reduction. I have an eating disorder history and hypoglycemic episodes. This was extremely dangerous for me, and when I left her care recently and have been hospitalized 3 times in the past 6 weeks, one of the emergency room doctors congratulated me for my well-managed diabetes… Mortified, I explained to her that I have never had diabetes and she looked at me and asked why I was on this medication. After informing her it was for metabolic syndrome and weight loss, she said I don’t even have that and should have never been prescribed that, I was taken off the diabetes medication immediately. At the conclusion of that hospital stay, the doctor also informed me I couldn’t be taken off the epilepsy medication without a taper, or I was at risk of having seizures. I don’t have epilepsy! I have had a massive weight reduction since the start of this and it has cost me dearly. As an eating disorder doctor, it is Dr Stevens’ responsibility to prescribe responsibly and not collude with anyone to have them lose weight, especially if it is not indicated. At that point in time I was only slightly over the “normal” BMI and my labs were completely normal. Now, my labs are no longer normal, in fact every time they are a different presentation with something wrong and unstable. This is NOT Health at Every Size (HAES) appropriate care, something that Dr Stevens claims to be."
"Dr. Stevens saved my life by being thorough and meticulous in all of the testing, prescribing, and medical care she provides. She continually practices HAES informed medical treatments that I’ve never experienced before and my health has quickly stabilized. After 30 years of being ignored by medical professionals, I’m grateful every day that she is a part of my team."
