"Awesome show of the Chinese American artist Hung Liu. She uses famous depression era photos, found historical photos from China and her own recollections from her experiences during the cultural revolution for inspiration. Also a recurring theme of dandelions signifying being scattered to the winds. The museum is free and a tremendous asset for PSU and the city of Portland."
"Discovered this gem while I was at the farmers market next door and admission was free so why not? This gallery is made up of professional and student art and during the day I went, all the art pieces followed the theme of 'data weave'. I'm no judge of true art but some pieces were surprisingly good. There was this piece of middle eastern looking rug art that looked cool and trippy. Altogether, it's a nice break to catch your breath and immerse yourself in some amazing art."
"Free admission exhibition at PSU. A variety of artwork selections constitute this food theme exhibition. Nice collection of print works."
"Great space for exhibits and artwork. The current black and transgender exhibits and stories were great. The build is nice, clean and the staff is really friendly. Worth the walk here."
"Not sure why someone gave this a 5-star rating because, as of September 9, it's under construction and not yet open. But since the Portland Art Museum isn't open today, and the 5-star rating, I decided to come visit. I asked at an information desk in a building across the way and they said it's scheduled to open to the public on September 26. UPDATE: Revisited January 2020. Smallish two-level contemporary exhibition, but I was surprised to see that they featured a work each by Koons, Hockney, Walker, even a Basquiat. Well worth the visit, and it's free (no gatekeeper desk soliciting donations either, just walk right in and enjoy). The Saturday Farmer's Market is held outside the rear entrance to the building that houses the museum, so enjoy a nice nosh outside before and/or after your visit."
