"PORTLAND CITY GRILL IN TOWER: We had a party of 6. Our reservation was made months ago. When seated, we got out into a 4 PERSON BOOTH. We crammed in there barely able to drink and eat. “Nothing later was available”, we were told even though tables were empty. We were celebrating a couple birthdays and they didn’t seem to care. The food was average for the price. The lobster Bisque came out lukewarm, and the meat was minimal. The soup was very salty and other words bland. The clam chowder seemed to be okay but a lot of sand in with it. Some is expected but every spoonful? The shrimp and crab carbonara was bland. Not much flavor with the white sauce. The grilled shrimp was tough and dry. The crab was plentiful. That was a high mark. The rest of the family had filets. They turned out well but chewy. Not very tender. The calamari appetizer was shared and was enough barely for 4 people. The sauce is a bit spicy but sweet. Be prepared for the sauce to be all over the calamari breading. Overall, out of the 20 plus years going to Portland City Grill, this was the unpleasant visit. Especially when you’re spending $519. We did get two free desserts at the end with candles. They were chocolate lava cake and the chocolate tart. The chocolate tart didn’t go over well, but the microwaved lava cake, was good. It could have been a tad warmer but hey, nobody complains about free dessert. We hope things improve. We’ll try it again this coming Summer and if it’s not good still, we’ll just go to Ringside Steakhouse. Excellent onion rings appetizers. It’s huge, and juicy steaks. It’s always a great visit. We just thought a high rise restaurant would warrant what we were celebrating."
