"Worst school of the century. That is my official title for Highland Park Elementary. My child is in 1st grade and is currently having a hard time with learning and staff at school are quick to point fingers at parent, but absolutely refuse to take any responsibility for failure. I will assume responsibility because I am a parent, but it does go both ways when it comes to education. I send my child to school to learn. I feel I am at a loss on how solve this problem. Assistant Principal Sharon Stone needs to to take a class and be educated on her people skills on dealing with parents. She is no help and has a big habit of patronizing and belittling the parent instead of resolving issues. She should be removed as assistant principal. Sharon Stone wins the worst assistant principal and worst example of a human being award for the next decade. And City Year program at this school is an absolute joke. My child needed tutoring and I was told that would be provided. That was not happening at all. In fact my child fell further behind on school and homework. City Year is more like an afternoon babysitting program. I am removing my child from City Year program and will be doing the tutoring myself since I see more results when doing it myself. My child will not be attending Highland Park Elementary for 2nd grade. I am moving out of the area and putting my child in a better school. Overall. Don't send your kid to this school. You just might regret it."
