Lincoln Homestead and Cemetery Broadway, VA 22815

The Lincoln Homestead and Cemetery, located in Broadway, Virginia, is a historic site registered on the Virginia Historic Landmarks and the National Register of Historic Places. Established by Benjamin and Sarah Bixler, this institution provides a glimpse into the rich history of the Lincoln Family and their homestead. From 2019-2021, extensive restoration work was carried out on the home, with progress updates available on social media platforms. In 2024, the site was updated with historical and architectural information, along with digital components allowing virtual tours of the property. Sydney Ring, a Public History Masters’ student at James Madison University, spearheaded this project as part of her thesis. The goal was to showcase the historical significance of the Lincoln Homestead and its inhabitants. Visitors are welcome to explore the Lincoln Family Cemetery, located at the north end of the property. However, access to the rest of the property is restricted to scheduled events only, as the house and grounds are privately owned.
