Reviews of Revelry Room
"The length of this review reflects how upsetting it was to spend my NYE at this place. I was excited to visit Revelry Room based on a friend's recommendation, but I had a truly awful experience and won't return. I purchased an event ticket for $62, which is somewhat reasonable given it included a drink ticket and light buffet, and it brings me joy to support small businesses in my community. We were greeted in a spacious front room by friendly staff. There was a temporary bar up front with beer and wine available, but I wanted to try a yummy cocktail so I made my way to the full bar in the back. Traveling to the back bar was challenging, given the solo bathroom is located within a narrow walkway between the front room and the back bar, causing an inevitable bottleneck of those in line for the bathroom and bar. In addition, the DJ booth/kiosk area had a large wooden platform that jutted out at eye level into the open area where people were in line for the bathroom and bar. I bumped my head on it trying to get past the bathroom line, so I pushed it back toward the wall a few inches to prevent others from making the same mistake (read: this heavy wooden structure was sitting up near head height and was not secured in any way). I'm hoping this was a temporary set-up given the potential for injury and overall poor design. I made my way past claustrophobia-ville to the other side of the bar and wondered how to get in line for a drink with so many people crowding the bar area. Thankfully, a bar stool opened up so I sat down and hoped to order my first drink. Another woman walked up to order and I invited her to take the vacant seat to my left while we waited. She sat down, was eventually greeted and served, and I was certain I would be next. Several more minutes went by with no acknowledgment from the female bartender or the bar owner, despite having my credit card out in plain sight, signaling that I wasn't planning on using my "free" drink ticket at that time. I sat for several more minutes, waiting for some sort of greeting, but it never came. Having worked in the service industry for several years, both while attending college and after graduating in order to pay off student loans, I was incredibly upset by the inconsiderate behavior. Smiling and saying hello to a patron is a basic tenet of those who SERVE in any capacity. I became very upset by the disrespect and eventually stood up, walked right out the back door, and found a great bar called Corner Pocket, where I was greeted immediately and received a drink within a couple of minutes. They also handed out free champagne toasts before midnight, which was a kind gesture. Note: the bar owner Tony did apologize after my friend persuaded me to return to RR and describe what had happened earlier. I don't believe there was any intentional disrespect on his part and he did offer a drink on the house, which I declined out of principle. On the other hand, the female bartender was absolutely culpable, as I was sitting right in front of the bar area she was working. She claimed it was an innocent mistake but given the bad vibe, I didn't accept the fauxpology she offered. Thank U, next! *A response from the business stated I used a "slur" within earshot of the bartender. The word used is defined as "a person (usually but not necessarily a woman) who is thoroughly disliked. Synonyms include unpleasant or disagreeable person" and is an insult, but is not a slur. However the word is classified, I do apologize for directing it toward the woman working the bar. She did not deserve that and it was uncalled for, especially considering my gripe is over poor service and not meant as an attack on the character of the bartender. I was highly frustrated and should not have returned to the bar speak to Tony about the situation that occurred earlier in the evening. I want to support other women in any circumstance, regardless of my current emotional state. I appreciate the response from the co-owner (+1 star) and I do hope they take this as a learning opportunity. I definitely have."
"I really liked the atmosphere. Good cocktails and music, the bartenders are gods."
"Love the vibes of this place! Great drinks and music. My boy, Jules Esquire, killllllllled it at djing the other night!!!"
"Intimate bar with unique drinks and very friendly service. The design and color scheme are really fun with a vintage flair. I will have to come back again and try the tamales. The Purple Drank and Amaro Soda were awesome. The owner Tony is very friendly. Check this place out! You enter through the alley behind Jet City Labs."
