Reviews of Evergreen Public Schools
"Before I had my own kids in the evergreen district.... I myself went to the evergreen district, where on multiple occasions I was treated horribly. One teacher even dragged my by my hair on one occasion, my wrist another, and another teacher threw a chair at me in anger. When I expressed this to the vice principal at BBC she assured me these things don't happen anymore and my daughter was in safe hands. Immediately, the very first day I enrolled my girl in school.... the principal accused me of cussing and yelling at her front desk lady. Which did. Not. Happen. However the principal admitted to lying and said "well see how you feel attacked right now? She felt like you were yelling and cussing st her"... didn't yelll.... did not raise my voice. Hardly said 5-10 words to the woman. I asked that the principal handle these situations with a little better conflict resolution. To be met with MORE hostility. They didn't put my daughter on the bus, then the principal YELLED AT ME THAT ITS MY FAULT I DIDNT TELL THEM WHICH BUS TO PUT HER ON. The bus barn did call them afterwards and remind them, it is in fact the schools responsibility to know which bus to put them on. And if they do not, to call and find out. The principal, still, refused to acknowledge any fault in this situation. I filed a grievance and set up a meeting with Thelina the principal of BBC.... for her to dismiss any idea I might have a concern.... and to walk out of the meeting within maybe 1-2 minutes and saying she doesn't see it going anywhere productive. The district isn't taking anything seriously. I'm terrified for my kids safety here. And they do not care."
"I love Evergreen School District. I just wish that the school board and superintendent supported our teachers and children."
"I wanted to give a kudos to Edward (Michael) Crawford at Evergreen High School. He connects with his students on an individual level, reaches out to parents proactively and has a genuine passion for what he does. The nomination process for teacher of the year is fairly tedious (I'd have to have a lot of time on my hands to really write this one up) but he would absolutely have my vote. I have had four boys in ESD, with my second about to graduate from Evergreen High. I appreciate how Mr. Crawford really invests in his students. So thank you Mr. Crawford for all you have done to support my son, and the other students you have connected with. On a side note, ESD needs to come up with an in district rewards and recognition program for teachers and staff. Nothing fancy. Just an avenue for parents to say thank you for a job well done and why it was done well, and something more public than an email to the teacher or principal. For those that struggle with engagement, sometimes the inspiration can come from celebration (and a little peer pressure)"
"Called to get help, talked to someone with a rude attitude who tranfeered me to somone els. Left a message hoping someone will return my call."
"The district's budget for next year is insane. We paid for the district' s new office building after they assured tax players they were moving to Burton Elementary. Well, that didn't work out and that's okay. Just next time they want a levy or bond passed, they shouldn't say "Kids First", because that hasn't been the case for many years. I have lived in this district for over 45 years. I'm grateful that I do not have school age kids. Maybe cut the superintendent pay and anyone else making over $130 thousand a year. Superintendent salary over $300 thousand for 2021-2022 school year. Time to flood School Board and have them explain. Nowhere do I see football getting cut. Are you all aware that girls sports gets a ride to their games but need to find their own ride home? Maybe not all girls sports but I know for a fact girls softball has to find a ride home."
