Solstice Bar PDX

"We came here as a part of Santacon 2023 and it’s a fairly small bar but it’s decorated nicely. There is a cool wall with vines and a neon sign to take photos in front of but there really is not very many options for seating. We were there fairly early (7:30/8ish) so there was maybe a few other people in there but I would imagine as it gets later into the night the place gets pretty crowded. I don’t remember seeing a food menu or a kitchen but I wasn’t searching for food at that point so I’m honestly not sure if they do have any. We used the restroom which is a single bathroom and then ordered two of their holiday drinks, I believe we got some sort of drink called maybe the naughty elf on the shelf or something which was blue. When I asked the bartender to explain what was in the drink to me she acted like she was inconvenienced, even though we were the only people at the bar, and then acted like she had to go find a menu before she could tell me what was in it. Once we finally just ordered the blue elf drink my friend and I got seats at a table outside and my wife paid for our drinks. It was $17 for both of our drinks which came in very small glasses, had absolutely no alcohol in them, and honestly tasted like something I could have given my teenage sister because it was only juice. We quickly finished our drinks, left them on the table, and went to the bar immediately next door which was a much better experience. The one plus to this whole experience was the photo I got in front of the neon sign. UNSURE OF WHETHER ITS LGBT FRIENDLY, I GOT A VIBE FROM THE BARTENDER THAT MADE ME UNSURE IF I WAS “WELCOME”/ SAFE BATHROOMS/ NO FOOD MENU THAY I SAW/SMALL AND LOUD ENVIRONMENT WITH UNFRIENDLY STAFF"

"Last night (8/20) I was attending this bar with my group of friends. We stopped in the bar briefly to start drinking before going to the Dante club to watch live performances, but we had heard this bar had good ambience and good service. We were seated by this blonde waitress who wore a gold dress. The problem is the service at this point and it gave me a sense discomfort. When she asked my other friends for drinks, she pointedly asked each person what they would like, and my friends decided they wanted to get 3 shots and chasers. I had a friend sitting next to me to my right and she asked her what she wanted, and my friend decided on a white claw. The waitress looked at me, but did not ask if I would’ve liked anything. She would have moved on if I didn’t speak up. I spoke up and asked if I could start with water before I decided in a drink. She did not agree, nor declined, but looked at me and turned around and walked away. I wouldn’t have too much issue with it if it just didn’t happen more than once. It was busy, but when we came in it was still early and not that many people. She began to serve my friends their drinks, gave my friend to the right of me her white claw. The blonde waitress looked at me, and when I said thank you and asked again if I could have water still, she did the same thing and turned and left. I didn’t make a big issue of it, but the bachelorette that we were celebrating with noticed this and my other friends as well. I said to continue the party on, no worries and we should stay and still drink. After a third attempt of trying to get a drink, this became uncomfortable and no longer inviting. We left after that. I am disappointed, because I really thought the bar was beautiful and the ambience is great. Though, between the waitresses attitude and the lack of attentiveness and just blunt oversight, that just kind of sucks. Anyway, we can’t always win. I’m not sure what her issue was but hopefully the bar can get more polite waitresses/bartenders."
