Reviews of Evergreen Escapes
"In my family, Mount Rainier is a bit of a celebrity. Even though my dad and sister live in Texas, they know from visiting me that this mountain is special to those of us who call Seattle home. So, when they visited for my sister's birthday, I knew just how to celebrate--go to The Mountain. Even though it was winter--maybe because it was winter--we all wanted to be out in nature, specifically, on THAT mountain. I have taken four other Evergreen Escapes tours in the past, so I knew who to call when planning my family's visit. As always, Evergreen Escapes made the day a thrilling, adventure and beauty-filled day that was tailored to our particular skill level. They thought of all the details--snowshoes, snacks, water, lunch, and potty breaks along the way. My 80-year-old dad was with us, but our guide Marty didn't blink an eye. He made him feel welcome and inspired to try snowshoeing for the first time in his life. It was a first for all of us, actually, but it won't be the last. The winter world around us was magical, and the views were stunning. (See attached photos.) Our picnic lunch outside in the snow was as delicious as I had remembered from past tours with Evergreen Escapes. I am vegan, and my sister has a unique food allergy, but Marty set up a lunch we could all enjoy: warming Thai-inspired corn chowder, a quinoa salad, tofu for me, and chicken for the meat-eaters. We inhaled it. Before leaving the park, we stopped at an old growth forest and marveled over the life there: 500-year-old Douglas firs that reached to the sky, sacred cedars, and opportunistic hemlocks, all growing together, next to sleeping berry bushes and other understory plants. Marty is an encyclopedia of geology, history, and nature. He helped us understand Mount Rainier and the history surrounding it from the ground up. For so many reasons it was a day we will always remember. I am grateful to Marty and Evergreen Escapes for your expertise, your laser-like focus to details, your hospitality, and the kindness you showed me and my family. Thank you. I hope to book another tour soon!"
"Great job Karen, DJ and the team at Evergreen Escapes! Prepping for my trip y’all promptly, politely and patiently answered all my many questions via email and telephone. I’m so glad I learned more about and chose the Olympic Park Full Day tour. It was amazing — highly recommended for the scope of what someone can experience in just one day and you don’t have to be a professional athlete to keep up. Great flexible itinerary to take into account weather but still fit in so much. Still can’t believe we went from sea level up to 5000 feet and back down again enjoying Ferry rides, snowshoeing, hiking old growth forest and a delicious hot lunch served under moss and lichen covered trees. Especially loved having coffee, tea, snacks and knowledgeable biodiversity lessons along the way. I chose these pictures to share because they are the best to show how fun and lovely a time four strangers can have together on an adventure. Thank you, wish you all the best."
"I just went on a Mt. Rainier all day tour from Seattle with Jackie Kaiser and it was magnificent! From the prompt pick up to just planning the absolutely perfect day, Jackie did an excellent job. This tour is worth every penny! It was so nice not having to worry about driving, having all of the equipment, snacks, drinks, light breakfast and lunch - it was all taken care of for us. The lunch was so fresh and good! At the end of the tour, Jackie “treated” us with cookies from Treat cookies and they were so yummy! The views were incredible and it was almost hard to believe it was real. The waterfalls with snow will take your breath away! Thank you for such a wonderful day, Jackie!"
"My friend and I had a great day with Colin on the Mt Rainier tour. He made great French press coffee and blueberry bread at our first stop for breakfast. We did about 5 different hikes throughout the day, seeing several waterfalls, gorgeous landscapes, and found all kinds of mushrooms. Lunch was amazing…fresh and healthy from a local caterer. Colin saved the best hike for last…it felt like a beautiful fairytale with all kinds of germs and moss in the midst of 600 year old pines and cedar. It was definitely worth the cost and I’d love to do a few more tours in the area."
