About the National Nordic Museum
The National Nordic Museum, located in Seattle, Washington, is a museum and tourist attraction that serves as a gateway to Nordic history and contemporary culture. The museum shares Nordic culture, values, and ideas with people of all ages and backgrounds to create connections, generate dialogue, and inspire new perspectives.
Visitors can explore a variety of exhibitions, including the first solo exhibition of La Vaughn Belle's work in the Pacific Northwest and Ginny Ruffner's monumental Project Aurora, a wall of light inspired by the Aurora Borealis. The museum also features the mesmerizing formations of starling flocks in the exhibition Sort Sol by renowned Danish photographer Søren Solkær.
The core exhibit at the National Nordic Museum explores Nordic history and culture over the last twelve thousand years, with items from the museum's collection and on loan from the National Museums of all five Nordic countries. The museum traces Nordic themes of connection to nature, sustainability, social justice, and innovation from ancient times to contemporary society.

Reviews of National Nordic Museum
"Good but small, a couple of hours if you include a visit to the coffee shop. Some interesting artifacts and a lot of historical learning. I loved the big wooden troll outside the front door."
"As a Nordic gal, have been wanting to visit for a while. The building is beautiful, just feels like they have so much more room for exhibits and the space is being wasted. The exhibits they do have are well done. I got free tickets from the however, so glad I got to visit. The Cafe was great though, the yogurt bowl was super good. Hope they add some more items to the place!"
"Was such a cool museum. I loved learning about my heritage and learned things I didn't know. My great grandparents have passed and the opportunity to ask questions passed with them. The troll was also a very cool perk!"
"Amazing museum! Very clean, very friendly staff and very knowledgeable! I love listening to the employees telling me the stories of some of the items. So much to see and learn, it's truly fascinating ! A fun extra thing to see is the troll right out front! They also have a gift shop with yummy candies and items at very decent prices! Decent size parking lot! They also give the kids scavenger hunt papers which is an added fun learning bonus!"
"I was initially warned that this museum leaned heavy on the Seattle migration side and that is true but it's balanced. There's a timeline of Nordic origins, religion, politics, trades. There's definitely a lot of reading but visual aids and displays help retain my interest. It is on the small side, but well laid out. I do think some of the exhibits could be expanded while others more tailored. Such as famous Nordic people and their contributions versus the massive room asking for people for their input regarding social issues. Staff was very pleasant and they have a pretty solid gift shop. Plenty of cheap parking located behind the building."
