Potlatch State Park

"Winter time visit. Beautiful panoramic view of the area, lots of space to let kids or pets move around. Decent amount of parking spots and lots of picnic tables. Definitely cold this time of year and a constant wind! Also, this park requires a discovery pass or you need to drop a payment in the box at the sign. Rangers do check so do the right thing!!"

"Adorable park. Only walked the water side and didn’t have time to cross the street to explore more. The bathrooms are closed down right now but they do have portable bathrooms open. Cute little nature walk that has signage for the native plants."

"This would be a great campground if their volunteers were not harassing campers and kids having fun. Dave a volunteer needs to retire to do something else other than harass kids and their mothers having a good time. I've been to many different campgrounds and this has been the worst experience for my wife and myself for harassing (6yr old kids) picking up little twigs to learn how to light a campfire. It's not like large sticks we are talking about very small twigs around the tent site where you'd lay a tent. He explained that you don't touch the sticks and leave them on the ground and sleep on top of them. Zero common sense and zero adventure for the kids here. No fun zone. The tent sites here have a great spot near a creek. There are full trailer hookups but it can get very tight and hard to navigate in some areas that are 20' or longer. It's right off hwy101 so lots of hwy noise right off the highway. Still a nice campground minus the volunteer. The park ranger was super friendly the two interactions I had with her. Will not be coming back here. To many other state campgrounds with people who respect you and your families."

"Spent the weekend here digging clams and oysters, they are just so fresh and good! We brought all the gears we need for picnic: fry pan, camping chairs, cooler for bears. In terms of parking, we arrived around 12:00 and no parking right beside the beach. We will need to drive to another parking area (near tourist information, like 10 mins walk from the beach). Recommend to come earlier. Also, there is not much shadow here so be sure to use some sunscreen. Overall, nice place for hanging out with friends and families on the weekend."

"If you're looking for a quiet, private campsite this is not the park for you! There are no to sparse trees between the RV sites and neighbors are soooooo close on every side of you. It's densely packed on the weekends and pretty terrible ..... loud and so smoky. But the cadre of families with young children seemed happy. Personally, I leave my dense urban home for peace and solitude. Also, the roads and campsites are dirt / loose gravel and virtually impossible to navigate in my manual wheelchair. The Rangers, staff and volunteers were so nice, friendly and helpful! Unisex restrooms were cleaned daily and both wheelchair accessible. It was cool under the trees and the breeze was lovely making the 90 degree day tolerable with just our van doors open. I understand the beach is across Hwy 101 (visible from the campsites also super loud) but I couldn't walk down because of the gravel roads. I can see families and kids and those looking for a party enjoying this park but city people looking for respite probably will be unhappy."
