"Geraldine's Counter Restaurant is a charming spot with a quick-moving line that ensures you're seated promptly. However, be sure your entire party is present, as they won't seat you otherwise. The service is impeccable, with a team of friendly and sweet staff. I opted for the avocado pepper jack omelette, and it was a delightful choice—perfectly cooked and not greasy, accompanied by tasty hash browns. While the French toast was decent, I made the mistake of asking for it crispy, which made it average in my opinion. Next time, I'll give the pancakes a try based on the overall positive experience. Geraldine's Counter Restaurant is definitely worth a visit for a satisfying breakfast or brunch."
"I've visited this restaurant a few times and, while I appreciate the location, neighborhood feel, and service, I've consistently found the food to be lacking. The ambiance, though bright, was uncomfortably cold during my 9:00 am visit. They were less busy than usual on a Monday. We grabbed a breakfast before heading off to school for the day, my son and I ordered blueberry oatmeal pancakes, hashbrowns, chicken fried steak, Arnold Palmer, and juice. The pancakes were moist but lacked a depth of flavor in the blueberry topping. We felt like we were missing out on the true blueberry pancake experience because there just wasn't enough blueberry goodness in each bite. The chicken fried steak was good, but the sausage gravy disappointed with a watery consistency and a drier sausage. On the positive side, the hashbrowns were crispy, and my poached eggs were perfectly cooked. The Arnold Palmer was enjoyable after I removed the ice to combat the chilly atmosphere. Service was friendly, but there was a missed opportunity for a warm farewell. As someone with over 15 years in the hospitality industry and a BA in hospitality management, I couldn't help but notice these nuances. While the price is reasonable, my overall experience leaves me hesitant to return, as I've never been fully satisfied with the meals. This review reflects my honest opinion and experience. "A happy place for brunch; bright and colorful. They don't take reservations any more. We were told 1hr wait at 11 but got the table in 30mins. They have a good brunch variety. I liked my pesto scramble but the sourdough's sides were quite hard. Also liked their tomato basil soup. Overall a good and popular brunch place."
"The restaurant was poppin' when we arrived, but we were fortunate to be seated at the bar immediately. Other guests were all engaged in lively conversations and all seemed to be having a great time. Our waiter was prompt and attentive throughout our meal without making us feel rushed. I ordered the corned beef and hash and was very pleased with the amount of vegetables that were added. The flavor was good but I think it wasn't as salty as corned beef usually is, which might be better for my health but left me a little unsatisfied. My companion ordered the chicken-fried-steak and eggs. The main event was spectacular, but the house sausage went past generous with the sausage in the gravy. We both made a mistake in ordering the Irish coffee without cream. Their recipe doesn't include Bailey's or Kahlua and thus without the whipped-cream was just whiskey in coffee which wasn't so good. I'm interested in returning to Geraldine's to try their other dishes."
