Reviews of Braddock's Battlefield History Center
"Small museum with big plans for the future. On the site of the initial shots of the Battle of the Monongahela."
"Beautiful little museum commemorating Braddock's famous defeat in the French and Indian War, a part of the 7 year world war which Initiated the British Empire. Museum is now run by the Fort Ligonier people. Braddock and Fort Ligonier were 2 attempts to wrest what is now Pittsburgh from the French."
"The museum is wonderful. It has interactive stuff for kids, and the staff is very knowledgeable. The parking is free too. I learned a lot more than I could have imagined."
"What a great local museum. We learned about the naming of the rivers, general braddock, george washington, and the french and indian wars. Quiet and small. We watched a movie and in all spent about 45 minutes. Well worth a visit."
"This place is a gem of a museum. It is small but packed with history. History concerning the Battle of the Monongahela, sometimes referred to as Braddock's Defeat. I think one could make the case for saying that this battle really began the unraveling of the British Empire and certainly pushed the American Colonists further down the road toward revolution. It was a very public illustration for a watching world that the most powerful army on the planet, at the time, could be easily defeated using guerilla tactics. Here is an insight for you. To get the full effect of this museum read the book "Braddock's Defeat" by David Preston. It is a great read and once read makes the history in this museum really come to life. Enjoy!"
