Reviews of Old House Plantation
"I did not find the cool lookjng old cemetery. The exact spot marked on the map is just a grassy flat field where I felt like I was trespassing as there is a house adjacent. The access to this field is to take the dirt road by the 2 mailboxes 7776 and 7796- but did not see anything but pretty trees and a field (and I was in private yards) so there must be a secret trail to the old cemetary. I don't recommend unless someone posts accurate location of the cemetary - the field is just a field."
"Not the easiest place to find. If you're not looking you'll go right past the historical sign. There's no signage pointing one to continue down the street road to the end. Note there are a couple of homes with one right along the Heyward family cemetery. It's cool to be at the homestead for one of the original signers on the Declaration of Independence."
"Quiet setting for this family plot. No picnic tables but there appear to be pews to rest on. Parking is adjacent to a private home. Beautiful grassy field. I enjoyed reading the dates on the headstones - back to the late 1700s."
"A little off the beaten path, but worth trying to find. We drove past it a few times before realizing that the driveway that looked private led to this site as well. Obviously no actual plantation left after the fire, but the gravesite is fantastic enough. Worth it."
"Stopped here out of curiosity. It's amazing where you'd find history tucked away. There exists nothing on the site except the graveyard and a few bricks in the ground where the house use to be. But it would be quiet and serene, if it weren't for the rundown trailers and dogs a stone throws away. I'm giving it four stars because I'm a history buff and I have fun doing these sorts of things, but don't expect much. It's more of a place to claim "I've seen 'such and such'" and not a a place to educate the public about anything - which is a little disappointing."
