Reviews of Lelooska Foundation
"I don't know how to summarize the experience I had. The museum is small, but packed full of items that fall between artifacts and household treasures. If you know Northwest or Native History to begin with the exhibits are extraordinary. The ceremony itself was literally magical. The sharing of masks that are famous if you know anything about Northwest Coast Native art, in the context of the ceremonies of dance, story, and song that they belong to, brings them to life in an accessible way that even the youngest members of my group could understand. Also, the little Puffin dancer was adorable."
"This was a great experience, all the kids we brought loved it. I wish we would have had more time, but for the time we had it was really cool. The park and lake down below is beautiful especially this time of year."
"This was an amazing trip! I loved seeing the stories, the masks and costumes, and the museum had a lot of really nice artifacts as well. It's always neat to learn about a different culture and to see people able to preserve their stories and traditions. Don't forget to pack warm clothes, even into late spring/early fall."
"We were just out for a Sunday drive and noticed this small sign and large structure and decided to stop. They were closed for the winter season, BUT, opened up the museum for us to walk through. A lovely lady even stayed with us to answer any questions. What a remarkable collection of North American Native American artifacts. Great parking and very friendly. Stop by in the summer as we will do."
"Great to hear the history and lore of NW Native Americans. Many of the masks and costumes are fantastic. Seating not that comfortable. Fire inside the lodge makes the place a bit smoky. Most of the dances are pretty much the same. Overall not a bad show but I would bet it used to be a lot better."
