"Well stocked and comfortable library, but for quiet reading or work - bring your noise reduction earphones with you or seek out a quiet cafe instead. The staff and volunteers speak and laugh at full volume, as if sitting at a noisy restaurant. Afternoons are often filled with children, which make this an excellent community service center but not the greatest for concentration. Likely, noise very much depends on the time of day you happen to visit."
"Our favorite library around! Great train table & other toys for kiddos and pretty decent selection of children’s books although I believe the young adult & adult selection is a bit better. Always clean & we absolutely love the librarians. Very sweet and welcoming"
"The staff does a great job programming interesting programs. The renovation was really worth it. Good collections."
"The library facilities are great. However, the librarians need to work on their interpersonal skills. I visit the library often and find them to be curt/abrupt. Not just to me, but to other people I've heard checking out books, looking around, using the computers, etc. Oh, and watch out for food and drink. One person, for example, was getting into a computer bag and had something in it that made a crinkling sound. One of the librarians heard and came racing over, telling him the food and beverage policy in a rude tone. At no time was he eating or drinking. He looked looked puzzled by the incident. I understand they need to do their jobs, but a little tact goes a long way."
"They have just redone the entire inside of this Historic Library. Already housed in an historic building-another beautiful one of many in the remarkable town of Waterbury, the newly renovated inside of the library is certainly worth seeing.Being an avid—no, a VORACIOUS reader, I have been in many libraries. I can honestly say this is one of the most impressive libraries that I have visited. I love this library. I'm sure you will agree with me if you come visit. I am sure I speak for all of the residents of Waterbury when I say that we would be happy to have you come visit our beautiful town. There are many amazing things to see and do here. And even if you are not interested in the reading aspect, I am sure that the beauty of the library-now both inside and out-will be worth it to you. Come on by!"
