Reviews
"We adore Elsa Gilbertson, Historic Sites Regional Administrator, for going above and beyond her regular duties to personally satisfy our email request. We had donated $500 to the construction of the Mt. Independence Interpretive Center nearly 30 years ago and never confirmed that our donation was memorialized on the promised wall plaque. Elsa made a special visit to Mt. Independence, found our names on the commemorative wall plaque, and emailed us photographs to satisfy our request. Having dug on Mt. Indy in 1990 as part of Dr. David Starbuck’s Archaeological Field School, which was my first volunteer dig of the many summer field schools to follow, Mt. Indy holds a special place in my heart. Thank you Elsa and thank you all for preserving this strategic and historic Revolutionary War fortress. - Laura & Mark VanValkenburg, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (originally from Albany, NY)."
