Reviews of Joseph Bates Home
"Lovely property with lots of history. Guides were excellent. More interactive exhibits are planned."
"Bates is created with co-founding the now global Seventh-day Adventist Church. This restored childhood home (he also lived here for several years after his parents passed he got married) depicts various periods in Bates long and illustrious life. The couple providing guided tours were excellent story tellers and I learned a few things even though I was already familiar with Bates story. They can also provide information on nearby sites important to Bates and family like where his daughters are buried, the post office just south down the street where Bates providentially received $10 in a postage due letter just at the right time, a school Bates father helped found, a church Bates preached in many times, another home Bates lived in and other locations worth seeing nearby when you visit the Bates home."
"What a Beautiful place to spend time with family learning about our pioneers, people that gave their life to serve Jehová."
"Awesome piece of history, oldest standing building in Fair Haven"
"Though still under construction, (as of this posting in Aug2018) I really enjoyed visiting this historical home! There are sections of the house that show the original wood and various parts of the house. It really gives you an idea of how things were back in the 19th century. I also enjoyed seeing the wall that is the remains of a fireplace that dates back to the 17th century! This was such a cool experience! I also appreciated that there were nice bathrooms available to use!"
