"Chapel 1st Baptist Church, built in 1913, was originally named Simpsonville Baptist Church and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as such. Not to be confused with the newer and much larger 1st Baptist Simpsonville Upstate Church directly in front of this landmark church. While the chapel certainly looks its age, it is elegant and graceful in doing so. There are several markers scattered around the small church, including a cornerstone block commemorating its 1913 rebuilding and 1888 founding. I was surprised to discover the beautiful courtyard within the small churchyard. A simple grass area with concrete steppingstones forming a cross with a birdbath at the center. A couple of benches sit subtlety within the surrounding shrubbery. The Chapel Church congregation has done a wonderful job of preserving this landmark and should be proud!"
