"The Fountain Fox Beattie House is believed to be at least the third oldest building in the city Greenville. It's unclear exactly when the interestingly named Fountain Fox Beattie had the house built, but it's assumed no later than 1834. The city acquired the home and leased it to the Greenville Women's Club beginning in 1950. When the Women's Club disbanded in 2014 the city sold the historic home to a local couple, and it became a private residence once again. Relocation of a building normally disqualifies it from being listed in the National Register of Historic Places, yet the Fountian Fox Beattie House is still listed despite having been moved twice. There is very little public view of the home due to the surrounding landscape, but the proud owners seem to be taking great care of the local landmark. More than anything I'm just curious if Mr. Beattie went by Fountain or Fox. Or just Fount...or Foxie......maybe F.F. "Get to work guys here comes The Fox!""
