Reviews of Commons at Ballard Apartments
"Good luck getting your car back once paying for parking. No posted hours paid and arrived before time expired but no way to access the garage. All the doors physically locked."
"Believe or not -- Lived there 2019-2021. It was a good experience when we first moved in, the managers, Aaron and Ethan, were very helpful and making us feel like home at Commons. The building was clean and nice at their management. But, immediately after the management changed, things have drastically changed. The building gets dirtier and dirtier in time. We had lost, misplaced, or returned delivery packages mainly because they do not have a self locker room. This is funny because it is 2021 and you still have to wait one of the managers to deliver the boxes to your unit door at around 6pm, otherwise it is trapped in a locked mailing room that is not accessible by tenants. If it is Sunday, no one around to unlock the package room and you need to wait Monday (unless it is a holiday). The management were very irresponsive to the needs of tenants, another example is that even though elevators kept broken once or twice a month in 2021, they were not bringing permanent solutions to fix it. There is only one elevator for south tower and if it is broken you need to wait the next day for fix or take the stairs. The parking garage is very dirty and unorganized, no assigned parking for the apartments. My brand new expensive car got scratched by a neighbor's car parked next to me, even there is her car's color on my car on the scratch, I had to pay for the damage out of my pocket because the building did not have security cameras in the garage and when I explained that to the managers (Greg, David), they said they are sorry and nothing to do :-). The management has changed 2 more times within my last year. Through 2020-2021, the building was surrounded by homeless people actually living around the building day and night in tents or pedestrian walks. The community park behind the building and the library across the street are full of "mad" homeless people, screaming and fighting each other randomly at night. I even witnessed the poor grocery store's security guy (in the building) got involved in a physical fight with an homeless woman. It was not even safe just walking into the building other than coming with a car and using the garage elevator straight. Even then, the management did not take the right actions to make any incentive for staying at Commons. The rent prices remained too high given the walkability of the neighborhood has reasonably dropped in the past couple of years. Furthermore, they brag about the apartment units and appliances but you sooner or later realize (in a few months) that the walls are so thin and there is no temperature or sound insulation of the building such that you will hear every single noise coming from the street as well as rooms get extra cold in the winters even though temperatures are not too low in Seattle winter. Whenever there is a truck passing by the street, our coffee table was vibrating, guess how sturdy the building is. And the noise problem occurs even when we were at the second highest floor (the 5th). The appliances look nice at first but are very low quality, especially the fridge is shaky and noisy. The bedrooms (of the 2BR units) are extremely small so you can fit literally one queen bed without the side tables (no exaggeration). Maybe this is the Seattle standard but when I was living at this apartment I felt claustrophobia, especially considering unlike the units, how spacious they built the common areas. The only good thing is that the maintenance guy was talented and fast in responding to our requests. Other than that, living at Commons at Ballard is a total waste of money (my opinion but I have had broad rental apartment staying experience to judge this). I clearly had the worst experience in this building and starting from the 6th month of my move-in date, I always lived in the hope of moving somewhere else. Unfortunately I had to stay there two years due to pandemic. Oh by the way, the free-gym they offer sucks. It is like going into a basement cave across the street with some equipment."
"This place is very nice! Beautiful floor plans with nice appliances. If you are looking to move this is a great place to call home."
"Ok so we don’t live here. However, my brother does. We visited for about a week and we were incredibly impressed. If you want luxury living in Seattle, then this is where you need to be. The staff are incredibly accommodating and helpful. They took the time to talk to us “visitors” and we felt at home even for a little while. The shops make life convenient and this is a wonderful place to have a party, read a book and call home. Oh and our family, who actually live here, love it too. The commons at Ballard are totally with it!"
"Nice, clean environment. Haven't explored the whole place but have friends who live here and the shops/amenities seem nice"
