"I love it here! The building has so much history (1st apts in Everett) but its age only gives it character and charm. My place has great natural lighting and a gorgeous view. It’s well kept and has off street parking. The manager Terry is so kind and available always. We signed a 6mo lease which is the longest you can get. We’ll see what happens with rent after that. After Reading the other reviews I had to give another perspective. Ppl usually only give reviews when they are disgruntled and don’t think to do so when they’re satisfied. BTW, The expectations for rent to be paid and late fees are the norm for any landlord and were laid out in writing when we signed our paperwork. Our neighbors are all quiet and I feel very safe here. No complaints! UPDATE, five years later: the building was sold about a year after my last review, and instead of an on site manager, they hired a property management company to handle things. The quality of living declined, since Terry, who I mentioned above, lost her position , and wound up moving after over twenty years of living and working in the building. She kept everything running so smoothly and contributed something to the building that is difficult to describe or measure, but was palpable and we all felt the difference once she was gone. So a lot of long term residents chose not to sign new leases, and tenant turnover became constant. Plus it seemed like the new management company gave preference to applicants with criminal history and large, barking dogs. They started "remodeling" the apartments, removing many charming historic elements, but not adding any valuable modern amenities, and raised the rent to almost double from when we moved in! So now, it's just a dated, noisy , drafty, sad building that has ridiculously priced units, constant turnover, fewer amenities than other comparable rentals, and a front door code that everyone and their homeless mothers seem privy to. (So not what I consider "secure," anymore.) In fact, one of our bikes was stolen from the storage room in the basement, and I know of multiple people whose packages were stolen from their apartment's (inside the building) doorstep. TLDR: new owners made bad changes, and I wouldn't recommend renting here anymore, unfortunately. Now the place is actually up for sale again, and I predict it will be torn down and replaced with a modern, multi-jillion-unit, mediocre, uninspired highrise, that us regular blue collar Everett folk won't be able to afford, since that seems to be the trend these days. I hope not, because I think we should preserve pieces of our local history, such as the FIRST APARTMENT BUILDING IN EVERETT, that's provided shelter to hard working locals for over A HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN YEARS!! But I guess that's progress, right?"
"Unique building with a 100 year history. Needs considerable renovation and repair. Parking is in front and left side. Right next to Everett high."
"I concur, property is a train wreck and residents don't really matter. Unhappy overall."
"RENTERS BEWARE!!! Landlord refuses to let tenants sign lease so that the rent can be raised astronomical amounts each month. Old building and outdated. Do yourself a favor and run away from this ridiculous building."
