Dr. Edna Kung, MD

"I had an initial appointment with Dr. Kung that was awful. I was hopeful because she came recommended by friends but I was very mistaken. The appointment started by her becoming incredibly upset because my primary care had told me that gynecologists would be the deciding factor on which medicines were allowed during pregnancy. She had an inappropriate meltdown and claimed if she “can google things so can other doctors.” From my experience, it is normal for PCs to rely on specialists to make final decisions on safety for certain scenarios. When I had back surgery, my surgeon determined which medicines were safe, not my PC. On top of that, the medicine in question is an SNRI which is a typical and evidence based treatment for PMDD. It is beyond concerning that Dr. Kung had never heard of the medicine in question and had to google it herself. She also said that we “scientifically don’t know how pregnancy happens,” dismissed my symptoms of severe bleeding and cramping for days during my period, dismissed any concerns about possible endometriosis (which seems to a common theme looking at reviews) got extremely defensive when I asked a few questions about specific fertility research I had read (I am trying to get pregnant), and spent most of the appointment harping on my age and that I don’t have much time left to get pregnant (I’m 35). I have never written a review about a medical professional before but after my appointment with Dr. Kung, I’m genuinely concerned about other women seeking care from her. Her lack of knowledge about general health and current research bordered on negligence. Her staff seemed afraid of her and the vibes were off. I will not be returning and will return to my quest for a good obgyn."

"Wonderful! I really appreciate that she spends time talking to me and listening! I never feel like I'm being rushed out when I see Dr Kung. I really trust her judgement too. I had to leave my last obgyn bc the office kept screwing up the billing codes and I had to argue with insurance every year, this never happens at Legacy. Very good staff."

"Dr. Kung insisted on keeping the blinds in the exam room open so she could “look at the trees”. I had closed them because I was sitting on the exam table with my bare parts looking towards that open window as I’m wearing barely a sheet. When she came in the office, she opened the blinds even though I was barely clothed and the window looked out to the street. When I told her I’d rather have them closed, she argued with me that you couldn’t see in. I think that the comfortability of the patient should be more of a concern to the doctor. I was extremely uncomfortable and then felt that I would not return. Please keep the blinds closed in a room where people get naked. Thank you"

"Dr. Kung and her entire staff are terrific. Dr. Kung is very knowledgeable and thoughtful, and spends time listening to me. She's been a terrific provider for the past five years, and her nurse practitioner Michelle, who does primary care, is also wonderful. I'm so happy to have this team overlooking my health care."
