"I LIST BOTH POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES BELOW: I love this place HOWEVER it has some issues that all come down to staff. The staff is incredibly under trained and when you ask to talk to their boss they are always “in a meeting”. We had someone who wanted to become our roomate from another unit and stateside staff left us STRANDED. They offered zero help in any way, and while I understand that there’s some stuff we had to do ourselves, they refused to help us get help with things that were very important. We’ve asked for maintenance before, and it takes forever. They also dig through the recycling so that if you don’t bring cardboard to the basement they will read your address off packages and fine you. This doesn’t bother me as much but it really bothers my roommates. THAT BEING SAID, I love the building with all my heart view is beautiful. The units are clean and nice. The free coffee bar is awesome and the events are thoughtful (even though they are underwhelming when it comes to food sometimes). I wish they allowed reptiles but I love that it’s pet friendly, it really makes it feel like a community. Despite the problems I have experienced I signed in for another year because of the building and the people, and chose to try to tough it out when it comes to some of the folks running it. Also there’s this INCREDIBLY annoying squeaky fan in the lobby that makes me crave a lobotomy no idea why that hasn’t been fixed but it constantly sounds like a bunch of dying birds and makes me not want to hang out in the lobby’s which sucks because I LOVE THE SWINGS!!! Overall it’s a new place, it’s got some kinks, but at the end of the day I personally find it worth it for what you get to live in, and while VERY expensive (which I think should be less until their service improves but that’s wishful thinking) the units are great and I have really mostly enjoyed living here. Hope it improves where I haven’t totally loved it yet!"

"I can’t believe this place has such good reviews. The entire time I lived at Stateside the management was very poorly run and response times were incredibly slow. I was also charged $160 in damages that I did not cause and that Stateside management knows I did not cause. The previous tenant even admitted to causing them and they still charged me for it and were quite rude during communications about it as well. Everyone that I spoke with was clearly undertrained and usually quite vague and unhelpful, ultimately always directing me to write emails where issues were still not resolved. I would look elsewhere if you are a college student looking for housing outside of dorms. It’s not worth the trouble of dealing with Stateside’s management and all the random fees they’ll charge you on top of rent!"

"This place takes advantage of students in every way it can. It charges unfair amounts upon moveout and while I've never once anywhere I've lived had an issue getting my full security deposit back I am currently being charged hundreds of dollars for bogus claims such as a broken desk (over 200 dollars for a desk that was absolutely fine when I moved out). And other things such as that. In addition they can get around letting strangers into your apartment which they do over a several week period at any time without earning because its per room lease. Which means as a single young person you are not safe within your own apartment. They have tried to add many charges to my account to that are just inaccurate even after me trying to talk with the head office for weeks about them. I am usually able to get my statement accurately reflected but only through constantly making sure I know exactly how it is wrong due to understanding the missed charges. I doubt if I were a bit younger with less experience with living places this would work out well so I am absolutely certain they are giving inaccurate statements to others. I have also heard they have been from people living here. The staff is usually undertrained who you get whenever you trying to communicate. I support them allowing students to work here but in that case they cannot be impacting peoples lives to such an extreme extent with hundreds of dollars of bogus charges as well as faulty information about how things work. I really recommend not living here. The distance is not that great from WWU in terms of it is a huge uphill walk with little bus stops very close and it is overpriced. I stayed here because I could self qualify and could do a lease takeover at lower prices and the apartments themselves have issues that I would be fine with at some level and I would get into that if it weren't for how I think how this place is taking advantage of people is the reason people should not live here. If you're a student please keep this in mind and if you're a parent with students I urge you to find a safer place that isn't trying to take advantage too. It is also not always disability accessible (doors to laundry, elevators often faulty, and today the front door was also not working with button options). If my disputes are not taken seriously now or in the future I will see everything I can about legal recourse, but this is an extremely difficult position to put students with little resources into."

"This place is honestly one of the nicest places I’ve stayed, the staff is super friendly and very informative. The rent is affordable,The furniture and appliances are nice and modern and the community get togethers they hold are super cool. Such as free spritzer day, free plant day etc. The community areas are always clean and luckily the laundry is free so it helped me cut out extra costs. I’m surprised any one can find any problem about this place compared to some places I’ve rented previously it’s honestly nicer than some hotels I’ve stayed in too lmao."

"Really nice luxury apartments which I have never seen for students before. I stayed here in Summer as a sublet and really enjoyed the location. Good gym and internet amenities. Just an fyi, don’t bother paying premium for Bay facing side, as 1) you don’t get much of a view, 2) there’s a train that runs pretty much every hour or so and it’s super load (really LOUD) with its horn blowing the entire time it is crossing downtown (even at 3 AM!), if you are a light sleeper you will not like it. An oddity I found in this building was there was no AC in the rooms, there’s AC in the hallways and common areas. During summer the rooms really heats up, I remember seeing ~ 88 degrees in the room. So definitely have a fan or may be a portable AC. Also, they for some reason charged me a cleaning fee for washroom while I left washroom in nice condition. I had only stayed there for 2 months and I even cleaned up some mess left over by previous people. I didn’t bother disputing the charges with them, I might give them a call."
