"I've been a loyal American Family client for over 13 years for my car insurance and I've never needed to make a claim. I was happy with my American Family agent when I was living in Cincinnati however, when I moved to Bellingham and switched to Nancy Leavitt 8 years ago, that changed. I thought I was going to get the same quality American Family agent client rapport however, Nancy never seemed to do anything for me. The only communication she's had with me have been mass mailers and mass emails unless I get in contact with her. She seemed to be unfamiliar with my policy whenever I went in for a meeting and would NEVER suggest policy adjustments that might benefit me; she knows more about what policies she offers than I do and after I did the research, I saw numerous policies that would have better suited my situation. The final straw was when I went in for a yearly policy meeting (which she should have helped me schedule every year but I only heard from her about 3 times the full 8 years I was with her to actually schedule a yearly review) and I told her I needed to pay less for my car insurance and I needed her help in doing so; as my agent, I thought maybe she'd be willing to help with that considering my record. About a month later, I receive a policy renewal in the mail. Not only did nothing change on my policy, but my yearly premium went up by almost $300. I tried to get in contact with her to figure this out but she did not return my calls. She either doesn't know enough about her policies, which is a sign of a bad agent, or she doesn't care about her clients, another sign of a bad agent. American Family is expensive but if you get the right agent, it's worth it. If you get Nancy Leavitt, you're throwing your money away. I switched to Progressive for the same insurance which is yielding me a yearly savings of over $1200. Sure, I don't get the personal touch of an agent, but I wasn't really getting that anyway. I highly recommend getting a different agent if you decide to go with American Family."
