"Really gorgeous old abandoned ruins of an old limestone quarry. Be careful while walking around...it's still a ruin, lol. Plenty to see and a beautiful park space around it including a "rope" to get yourself down to the northern side beach. Be careful and go and enjoy!"
"A very well preserved building that was the stone crusher used by the Kelley's Island Lime and Transport company. The limestone was quarried nearby and crushed into small stones and loaded by conveyor to boats docked nearby. You can walk through the bottom floors and if you are daring, you can explore as much as you want! There are pictures on brochures or at the state park that provide what the building used to look like. I really enjoyed exploring the building and the surrounding areas. Definitely the most interesting area of the island! You can walk along the shore trail to explore the beautiful and interesting rocky shoreline!"
"Very cool place. An abandoned industrial building slowly being overtaken by nature. Neat spot for photo shoots"
"Old Stone Crusher as is known to many people is the remnants of what was one of the world’s largest lime and limestone companies known as Kelley’s Island Lime & Transport Company. KIL&T. The company was founded in 1886, and was in existence till the 1960’s. You can see some of the foundations that supported the crushers, and the pots used to boil the limestone to make a lime powder."
"Just a COOL place to see. Quick in and out, but great to observe how nature breaks down the ruins. The real deal here is the little rope to belay down to the rocky shore and explore. Some of the most incredible Great Lakes geological shoreline I have ever seen...and I grew up in Michigan. Hike in both directions, wear good water shoes, and bring a camera."
