Reviews
"Always cheerful, always charming, and always ready to make a deal. You can't go wrong with Penney Lane Antiques. Joe and Nina are great, and worth the visit alone."
"I’ve been antiquing since I was young, and I can easily say this is one of the best antique stores I have EVER been to. The owners were so sweet and helpful, I loved hearing the local gossip and banter happening around the front counter, and generally the place was warm, cozy, and easy to navigate (with a bathroom no less!) The selection was incredible and diverse, it was well organized while still having the clutter feeling that feels important for any antique store to have, and the prices were all very fair. My friend and I kept laughing because most things I got were $12, things I could easily see going for three times that in Portland. It was difficult to parse down my selections, there was so much I wanted to get! We were easily there for 3+ hours, and walked away with an incredible haul of unique vintage and antique wares. I will absolutely be back!"
"It's challenging to review any antique store with any truly meaningful metrics, because they all generally share the same traits, so perhaps some flowery adjectives will suffice instead: Sybilline shrines of period piece products, crammed to capacity with the detritus of yesteryear; a gallery of time-lost treasures; a veritable warren of vintage goods that continue to withstand the test of time better than anything manufactured this century; all of these descriptions are applicable to Penney Lane Antiques. One quality that this shop possesses, that is sorely lacking in others, is the presence of some incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly owners, who immediately engaged us in convivial conversation upon entering, and fawned over our awe-struck baby son, who was enraptured by all the lights, sparkles and shining things tucked away in every corner, glittering from within their glass cases, or dangling from every overhanging beam. And not just us: the owners seemed to either know everyone who entered their shop, or treat each potential customer as if they were an old friend returning after a long absence. Their raucous laughter and jovial, boisterous voices could be heard throughout the building, as we wound our way through the labyrinth of forgotten finery that sprawls across several rooms and multiple floors. That's a lot of $5 and $10 words to fluff up an otherwise elementary analysis of this vast, varied and vibrant vintage vivarium, but if there's one thing to take away from a review of this store, it's this: most antique stores exude a somber, almost oppressive aura about them, like that of a library or museum. It's nice to find one where the proprietors are eclectic as the wares they're selling. The Beatles said it best, in the lyrics of the song for which the shop's name is an allusion (if you will forgive my blatant plagiarization): "And all the people that come and go Stop and say hello.""
"Beautiful place, it's a time machine, full of fun and history, the owners are very gentle and friendly."
