Reviews of New Jerusalem Child Care Center
"I found this daycare and did a tour with the director Ms. Vivian, and this being our very first daycare ever it seemed like a nice place. It was small and intimate, and they had a video camera system. It seemed like the perfect fit. My experience with staff was horrible after the first month of having my son there. Literally not even 2 weeks at New Jerusalem I found a bruise on my sons forehead, and had received no injury report/incident report when picking him up. When I contacted the directors they new nothing about the bruise. And then after doing some more investigating and talking to the staff, Ms. Rhonda goes and checks the cameras, and called me back to let me know then when SHE LEFT HIM ALONE for a "few seconds" to get something from the kitchen, that my son had gotten up from his nap and went walking over to another student, and he fell and hit his head on the floor. Of course she didnt know this until after watching the cameras, because she was not in the room at the time of this happening. So that was my concern but I was assured that even tho she left him UNSUPERVISED for less than 1 minute, that he was being watched. Next a few weeks later I go to pick up my 1 year old and he is in the front preschool room with all of the bigger kids for no reason. Ms vivian is distracted doing whatever by the computer, keymoni seals was in the back doing whatever, so while I'm signing out my son I'm also having to keep an eye on him and 3 different times I had to take a small toy that he had put in his mouth, and this was frustrating because they clearly showed me how poor they were supervising my son. So I made a deal out of that and they had to come up with an alternative, instead of just keeping the age groups separate. Next incident happens about month later on new years. I picked my son up from daycare and this time before even making it home I found a big welt on his forehead. Again no one knew anything, no incident report. Nothing. So I made a complaint to the directors, licensing and cps. I was especially upset being there were 2 teachers, Keymoni Seals and Ms. Antonia, in charge of his care at the time. Neither teacher did not know of the welt, and when I asked to view the video cameras. Ms Rhonda told me that she could not show me a video because their systems cord had gotten "unplugged" and when that happens all of their data and recorded videos get erased. So I was hesitant about bringing him back, but ms Rhonda and ms vivian both assured me that this would never happen again and that proper protocol would be followed as required by state law and regulations with the WAC. well needless to say about a month later before valentines day, I get a call from ms vivian that Vinny had gotten hurt again. After getting the details, and the incident report, I requested to view the camera because I wanted to see if what they said about my son's injury could be legitimately proved on their end. Again they claimed the cord was "unplugged" once more and could not show me a video to verify that the scratch on my sons face was from him "hitting" himself with the tray attachment from the feeding chair he was sitting in. This was the straw that broke the camels back, I beleive the reason they didn't show me a video was not because of an unplugged cord, I beleive it was because there was something they did not want me to see. In the end I filed another complaint with licensing and cps and pulled my son out of daycare. I'm still not happy with how things ended and I have made up my mind if I ever see keymoni seals or ms. Antonia both of them will catch these hands, since my son was in their care and thats when he sustained his last 2 injuries. Do not bring your childeren here. The teachers are only there for a paycheck. They are lazy and negligent. Couldn't even make sure my sons face and hands were clean by the time I picked him up. I definitely walked out without making a payment and I hope their paychecks suffered immensely because of it. If I could post my sons injuries I would but post wont let me ."
"I worked here for a few years. I go to college so I can get my degree in Early Childhood Education. Loved ALL the children who came to my class, watched them grow and learn. I even remember the names of the kids who left and miss them. A lot. Loved ALL the kids in the center like my own little family. All the staff are very caring and I grew close to them like a family too. The kids and staff were my daycare family! **Edit I'm back working here! I missed these guys so much. Some of my kids are gone but I have good memories with them! We've had a few concerns with parents but I wish them the best. My co-workers are still doing great as well. God has truly blessed us and really keeps our kids and staff here protected. We aren't perfect, like any other human being, but we try our best at this little daycare. Glad to be back home ❤"
"Small yet loving family environment! My children love all the staff there, as well as I do. I am not from Tacoma WA and I am so glad to have found this center because they care for my children as their own and as a mother that is very important to me."
"This is more than just a wonderful daycare. Showing complete compassion and remarkable customer service. With a child having a developmental delay and a very awful experience at their last daycare, New Jerusalem staff has open doors for my child. Speaking many words and phrases. Colors, ABC’s and counting. They have so much love and extremely supportive to my child. My child comes home and is happy and receptive to learning new things and routine is more in line with our home dynamics . They meet his nutritional needs as my child is lactose intolerant. This is such a wonderful place that has embraced my child with open arms. He was fearful starting a new place but just with in a few days we could see the improvement he has made, he hugs and kisses mommy goodbye when dropping him off. Such a bitter sweet happy moment that was. Thank you To the amazing staff that make my child so happy, safe, & has a better quality of life because of you. Joseph’s mommy ❤️"
"When you go to pick up your baby from New Jerusalem Daycare and they would rather stay with their teachers and friends. This Daycare is doing something Rite. I have had my grandchildren at this daycare for quite a few years. I have NEVER had any problems with this daycare. They are AMAZING. THEY TEACH OUR CHILDREN IN SMALLER GROUP SETTINGS, AND IT SHOWS. We are more of a FAMILY than a daycare. I have and will continue to recommend children to New Jerusalem daycare. Keep up the Amazing work."
