Reviews of South Puget Sound Community College
"It's been over a month since I sent in a form that, I was told, would only take 10 days to review. I'm getting emails that the school is going to kick me out of my classes - I need that form in order to stay enrolled. I've called and emailed them upwards of 5 times, and I'm not getting anything back except "I'll need to transfer you" or "you'll receive an email when it is processed." Edit: This was worked out after I met with them in person a couple of times. There are like 2 only in person classes, but their online portion of school is rife with issues. You can't do anything over the phone because they only want you to come in, despite not offering in person classes, and everything is required to be done online, which again is horrible. I'm being let down a lot my second year here. Also, can we stop acting as if someone's going to hack into my canvas and do my homework?? Students shouldn't have to log in to canvas every time they want in, I shouldn't have to have a biometric key or have a special app for me to sign into my account. It's caused me to be locked out numerous times and unable to do my schoolwork that I'm then penalized for. Edit: The teachers are very wonderful and I am so glad for all of them. But it is finals week and I cannot consistently log into any of the schools websites due to the 2 factor authentication. The key I was given does not always work, service in the school is poor and I cannot always receive SMS notifications, and I'm not downloading an app just to log into Canvas. I know they're doing their best, but this sucks so badly."
"Advisors are horrible/instructors. Not very welcoming nor friendly. Especially Laura Moe-Genther. Sounds like she hates her job. Campus is nice though."
"The advisors only give you incomplete information and you get a different story from each advisor. They make it way more difficult to do only classes than it should be, especially since all the work is completed on an outside source and all they do is transfer the grade to their books. And God forbid you want to change your degree path, hours of paperwork and justifying why you should be able to change, IF it gets approved you're on academic probation. Ridiculous. Go to a real college and save yourself the headache."
"I noticed the professor's political orientation. She argued with me why my opinions are wrong because I am from a developed nation when I made a suggestion that we should use english more in class and not allow people who spoke the same foreign language to partner up because they would rely on their mother language to clear up mistakes rather than being forced to test their english skills in the class that is supposed to teach people english."
"SPSCC is a great campus, but the parking is awful and asking questions to One Stop is a hit or miss. The professors make up for it though, they are good and care deeply about educating and helping their students. I find myself often going to my professors for help and advice more than anyone else. 4 out of 5."
