"I’ve been seeing Dr Mvundura for a decade now, and recently just had my first child. I’ve always been so satisfied with the care I’ve received not only from him, but from everyone at the Centralia Women’s Center (special shout-out to Nurse Amanda, I wish I could have taken her to L&D with me). When it came time to deliver my baby, Dr Scalici was the doctor on call and she took the best care of me even though I wasn’t one of her usual patients. The nurses at the Providence Labor and Delivery unit are some of the best nurses I’ve ever got the pleasure of meeting. They genuinely seem to enjoy their job and caring for mothers and their newborns. When I first arrived, Becca and Katie took the best care of me through the first part of my labor. Then Micah took over (I was there through several shift changes) and she didn’t leave my side during delivery, even though her shift was pretty much over. Micah even came back during her next shift to check on us even though I wasn’t her patient. Leaving the hospital, Dr Mvundura was back on call and he gave us the biggest hug when we were leaving. I seriously can’t say enough good things about everyone, and I’m so glad I picked Providence Centralia to help bring my child into the world safely."
"I was planning on giving birth here but I ended up needing an emergency c-section at 4am on a Saturday. Dr. Scalici was my obgyn, and happened to be the doctor on call that night. Within 5 minutes of calling the womens center after hours number, Dr. Scalici called me and told me to go to the ER to get checked out. Everything happened really fast. All of the nurses were very attentive. Dr. Scalici explained things well and kept an eye on my baby while the nurses prepared me for surgery. The anesthesiologist was very comforting to talk to- I had never had surgery or been under anesthesia before. Overall our experience was wonderful. My husband and I could not be more thankful for the guidance and care in such a stressful and scary situation. This is our first child and he is now at Tacoma General NICU. The nurses told us to give them an update and we plan on it. We can't remember anyone's names unfortunately, but thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for everything."
"I had my second child here recently & we had such an amazing experience! The nurses are the sweetest & funniest people (and we all know a mean nurse can completely ruin a birth experience). I delivered during the only three hour window that my OB was unavailable, and the OB on call (Dr. Mvendura) was just as fantastic as Dr. Scalici. The staff was very accommodating, they offer a ‘celebration meal’ for you & your spouse after baby is born (good food, too!) and all of the medical procedures were done quickly & efficiently (I always hear horror stories about epidurals but had zero problems here). The biggest ‘cons’ would be the room size & the pull out chair for dad, but those are my only real ‘complaints’ & the nurses were wonderful about working efficiently in the smaller space & making sure dad was comfortable too. I am confident in this birth center & I wouldn’t hesitate to come here again for a future birth."
"If i could give this place no stars i would. Gave birth to my second child there. One of the worst experiences of my life. Should of went with my gut instinct and went somewhere else. I was forced to have a natural birth. I was there for two hours and for some reason they didnt want to give my my epidural. The nurse told me i had to wait for a bag of saline to go into my IV. Thats weird! My first child I got my epidural with in 15 minutes of being at the hospital. Then, i didnt see my doctor right until i was screaming im pushing. Then the great and amazing Dr. Tan finally decided to grace us with her presence. (Hope you're sensing my sarcasm) My advice.. RUN! RUN! RUN! The hospital rooms are dirty and the bed reminds me of laying on one of the prison matts. They're even that lovely blue that the jail matts are. My back did nothing but hurt after sleeping on it. Please, if you're reading this, go somewhere else. I cant express how awful the nurses treated me. No bathtubs either in the rooms. Nasty old showers that a pregnant girl can barely fit in."
