About the Hall House Museum
Located at 226 South Jackson Street in Salisbury, North Carolina, the Hall House Museum is a historic institution that offers visitors a glimpse into the past. Originally built in 1820 as classrooms for the Salisbury Female Academy, the house was later transformed into a grand Southern residence by Dr. Josephus Hall in 1859. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Hall House has served four generations of the Hall family before being purchased by the Historic Salisbury Foundation in 1972.
Visitors to the Hall House Museum can explore original furnishings, wallpapers, painted ceilings, and even a desk used by Andrew Jackson during his law studies in the 1780s. The grounds of the museum also feature a restored kitchen building where enslaved workers lived and worked, as well as a cannon from Salisbury's Civil War Prison.
For those interested in group or school tours, or renting the Hall House for photography shoots or small events, arrangements can be made by contacting the museum at 704-636-0103 or emailing director@historicsalisbury.org. Come discover the rich history and stories of the Hall House Museum in Salisbury.

Reviews of Hall House Museum
"We attended a Christmas Carol reading here. What a wonderful setting for a play like that! Beautifully decorated. We loved it."
"It's a wonderful place never seen a more complete historical site before the ladies that help run it are very very nice the place even still has the furniture from when it was built in 1820"
"One of my favorite places in Salisbury! Love the history! And what has been done to the house in recent years has been very well done. Great job! The volunteers are always welcoming and full of information."
"I very much enjoyed the tour of this beautiful house. The tour guides had so much information to share and it was fascinating to hear about the transformations this building underwent throughout its history. The only thing I wish this museum and others would include would be the stories from the African American community's perspective. They were undoubtedly part of this history, and it would only enrich the experience to hear from them directly as well."
"I have yet to be on the tour but it us a beautiful place for photos and the geo cache."
