Reviews of Lakehurst Hangar 1
"Great historical landmark"
"This building is so huge, it's impossible to imagine. Inside is an actual-size mock-up of an aircraft carrier, and the recreated control car that was used in the Hindenburg movie. The site where the Hindenburg crashed is poignant, and the rare items inside the two museums inside are fascinating. If you're in the area, and if the military is your thing, don't miss this. Especially interesting is the airship history. Tour guides are very knowledgeable and interesting, and it's a fun day. Book in advance, it's an active military base, so plan ahead. Tour was free, but there is a donation box."
"Museum is small but fascinating. The structure is awe inspiring. Please go to Lakehurst historical society website for details and availability. See the Hindenburg memorial while visiting."
"History was made here! I had no idea the Hindenburg burned here in NJ! There's a marker where the dirigible exploded and a plaque with the date, etc. Very interesting."
"Not sure if this is the hangar the Hindenburg would have been housed in. But it is very large. Stopped by to check it out. The doors are huge and need to be opened by some very large machines. Be cool if the had the ability to open it up. Seems to have been sitting for years."
