"My son has been attending Huntington Learning Center for around 8 months now. He was struggling in school and I tried multiple times with his school to get an assessment on his knowledge level in subjects like Math & English. My emails and requests were not returned, so I sought an external program to get help. I found HLC through a friend recommendation and was thrilled to find that they would do an assessment for around $100 (can't recall the exact price). What the results showed, were that my son was was around 4 years behind in Math and English. Since he was going to be entering 9th grade, we decided as a team to start the tutoring during the summer, with a focus on Math. Since the summer, he has been attending twice a week and has nearly caught up in Math! We have recently decided to shift the focus to English and organizational/study habits half time. The program is expensive, but he is getting the help he needs at a critical time, which is worth it for me. Thank you!"
"My son went to Huntington for a year from 4th grade. His academic skills improved to a point that he is now in the accelerated math group at school. He also did SSAT prep and this increased his percentile to the mid 80s. Highly recommend this place and my son enjoyed going here."
"Having excellent grades at school and comments yearly it was surprising to hear the contrary a few months before the end of fourth grade. After getting Huntington's assessment, to gain more data as to how my child was doing academically, the results displayed barely anything taught was retained that school year. Answers on my child's questionnaire expressed concerns about the teacher-student dynamic. The negative outlook on learning needed to be addressed and Huntington staff communicated the normalcy of resistance when beginning. A couple months later, the school's end of year testing displayed an increase from the prior assessment results. With the small progress tutoring was continued during the summer. Beginning of fifth grade testing revealed close to catching up in math and even better in reading. Even though my child had the same teacher as prior year they agreed to start the year fresh. Unfortunately, it didn't last. My child shut down towards learning in school, almost daily sought office staff, and had a break down. Of course, I didn't force my child to go to school for a bit afterwards but did an educational routine at home along with Huntington's tutoring until my child felt better. Two months since fifth grade started, discussions with the teacher, counselor, and staff only solidified my conclusion that transferring seemed best in order to reset my child's negative view towards school. Six month reviews displayed even more progress in math and reading. From the school's testing a couple reading exams surprised me with several levels above grade scores. I am truly grateful towards the patience and individual care Huntington's staff has exhibited in my child's educational experience."
"Our son spent the summer studying with Huntington Learning Center Shoreline instructors working on both math and reading skills to improve his SAT scores. He not only gained valuable insight into how to approach studying for and succeeding on the test itself, but the review of subjects filled in many of the learning gaps he had unknowingly struggled with in school. We did not sign him up to improve in school, per se, but that has been the positive unintended outcome. His confidence level going back to school as a junior after working one on one in person all summer with caring and careful tutors has made him a more motivated, higher-performing student over all. He will continue to work with Huntington this year to keep on top of raising his SAT scores- which had already improved in practice tests. Highly recommend the care, approach to skill building and attention to individualized strategies for student success. Fantastic experience overall."
"Our daughter has had an incredible experience at Huntington! Not only has she improved academically; her confidence has grown and she is always so excited to learn! Murli and his team have been amazing and adjust their plan when she needs extra support in certain areas. She comes home asking for more math questions because she loves it so much and her attitude towards reading has completely changed for the better since being at Huntington. We finished her original program and are staying there for a session a week because of how great the support has been that they have provided for her. Thank you Huntington!"
