Reviews of Chestnut Hill Cemetery
"I have to back some of the other comments here. Everything has been taken from my mother's burial plot. We have had articifial flowers, multiple solar lights, solar angel and cross; all have been taken. All that remains is one solar light. A real low for people to be doing this and for the cemetary to not keep a better eye on the happenings on these sacred grounds."
"I was just over at the cemetery a few days ago visiting my mom. All of the artificial flowers and small decorated rocks that I put on her grave site were completely gone....removed. I am VERY annoyed. Hers was the only one that had these removed. Other grave sites including one that borders hers still had their artificial flowers and other items still there untouched...while those on my moms site were removed. I called the cemetery and left a voice mail and no one has called me back. I find to this removal of sentimental items on my moms grave site to be disrespectful, uncaring, and certainly not sympathetic. There is no excuse whatsoever that can justify this."
"When Len was in charge of the cemetery there was a rule that no one is allowed in the cemetery when a funeral is going on. My son passed away June 24/25, but his death certificate states June 27, 2022. I have had to bury both my children in the last 5 years 10 months from one another. During our funeral the new operator of the cemetery allowed people in during our funeral, he also rushed out the mourners stating we were blocking the circle. When Len ran this cemetery, and a funeral was going on the cemetery was closed for a full hour for the mourners. This cemetery I have been to a great deal in the past five almost six years. Since Len died, the cemetery is not being cared for in the same way it was before. I am very upset that the Cemetery is being neglected and it is very sad when my son Daniel ashes were buried that the dirt was mainly rocks. He was a Marine this horrified me to see this, four days after his burial. Imagine checking on your sons grave to find rocks all over the area of his ashes. What is wrong with the new management? I would love to speak to the people in charge of making decisions about this cemetery because one of the reasons my sons are buried here is based on the fact families have 12 inches from the stone to decorate or place flowers. The new management is not allowing people the respect they received from Len. Len cared for this cemetery and the grass was green, now it is all dying. Not from the heat but from neglect. People have been complaining about the new management of this cemetery since Len Passed away. If management is going to let a family friendly, caring cemetery be neglected due to new management it is a real shame. I have my Grandmother, Uncle and 2 Sons buried in the Cemetery and I am very upset with how neglected it is starting to look. If families are willing to plant grass to keep it from looking like a dirt cemetery leave them alone. Stop pulling people's flowers out and all the other antics that is going on. Like I said I have been at the cemetery on a regular basis since 2016 when Len was in charge people were doing their best to make the graves sites look nice and show love to their lost ones. "I've learned the caretakers are there when you see the garage door open. Usually by 8am to 9am. Caretaker was very helpful locating grave sites in a book. Wish a map of grave sites was online to easily find the plots. Due to the cemetery being so old, areas were not marked out well."
