Norwich Historical Society

The Norwich Historical Society, located at 277 Main Street in Norwich, Vermont, is a local government office and museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the area. The building is open to the public year-round on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-4pm, Saturdays in July and August from 10am – noon, and by appointment. The society has exciting events and collaborations lined up, including a garden tour in 2024 featuring three beautiful gardens with musicians, refreshments, and artists. They have also partnered with cartoonist Emily Zea to publish illustrated histories about Norwich, connecting her work to the artifacts and archives that inspired her.

Visitors can explore the digital history project, which features narrated letters from the collection, ranging from an 1814 letter to WWII correspondence. Additionally, monthly reports from weather diaries, a searchable online database of historic materials, and historical driving tours of Norwich are available for exploration.
