Reviews
"This is also a large mining complex sprawling along the Dunning trail and the Long Path. Similar to Pine Mines, the Hogencamp complex is a combination of long open trenches (at least 3), vertical shafts, and horizontal shafts. One of the shafts goes right under the Long Path. Some of the vertical shafts are dangerous. They are deep, filled with water, and are at the ground level, so you can see them only when you get right next to them. One of the vertical shafts (the one with a dewatering pipe sticking out) is literally at the Dunning trail. On the other side of the Dunning trail, there are remaining foundations of several buildings. Apparently, besides various industrial buildings there was a saloon at this location back in the 19th century. When I was there, the swamp to the east of Dunning trail was overflowing the trail, so I didn't go there, but I suspect that the mines may extend even further south and, possibly, west up the slope."
