"Perfectly located historic hotel in downtown Port Townsend -- walk to everything! I've stayed in the past but noticed some improvements this visit. The double queen room my gal pal & I shared was large, comfortable, very clean and cozy ... the fireplace was on when we arrived and due to the chilly wet weather it stayed on the entire visit! Beds were very comfy. Mary at the front desk was kind & helpful. I can only say positive words about this hotel so long as you are happy with accommodations that are not brand new!"
"me and my 3 sisters stayed here for the presidents day weekend. great little town and the location of the hotel was perfect. however we will not stay here again. first of all when you enter the hotel off the street it is not even a lobby, it is a little area filled with native American items it was a store i guess, but definitely not a real hotel lobby and not inviting at all. No where to put your stuff or even sit a minute. we were in the "suite" in the back. it does have great water views but the back of the building was in need of a face lift and at night it is pitch black back. there did seem to be a small light but did not always come on. there is no designated place to park. you have to just park anywhere you can find. one night when we came back we circled 10 minutes and no spots were available. room was ok lots of space but the curtains were so dusty and dirty about 1/2 way up. it was a really tall window and up on the high ceiling was many many dark cob webs on both sides. the bathroom was ridiculous. shower and toilet but they had a pedestal sink. absolutely no counter to put anything at all and no other shelf or cabinet to put something on. kind of odd for a suite and there was room to have a counter. there was no other counter in the main room either. did have micro and mini fridge, table and chair but again everything had to be put on the table as it was the only surface in the entire room. the dresser and loveseat were very old and dinghy. only run by 1 women we asked about getting ice and when she took us upstairs there was non and we were told to go to Safeway! the ice machine was not even on. we got paper cups for the mini coffee pot. our room was more like a motel as you can not enter the hotel from this room. were told the front area closes at 6pm and doesn't open till 10am. so you couldn't get ice, coffee, towels or anything between those times. It really looks like they just slammed this room together with very minimal old used items to get it rented out. We are not even picky people but this is no way to run a business. no thing special about it at all. any being told to go buy your own ice was not very professional. but we will never stay here again after this stay. very strange operation."
"Beautiful historic hotel right in downtown area. The rooms are clean and well furnished. The decor is very dark as the Victorian style and the hotel is undergoing some work from coordined off areas. Unsurprising given its age. Be prepared that the hotel is truly historic and those who need ADA access would struggle as rooms involve taking stairs."
"There is no designated parking for this hotel, but it wasn't difficult to find a spot on the street. The hotel maintains the antique character that the waterfront area is known for. Therefore, it is not handicap accessible at all. It has lots of stairs and a slight lean towards the drop-off on the uppermost flight due to age. The room was sparsely decorated on a low cost budget, which created a "tired" look. The only microwave available for guest use in the hotel was in a communal ice machine room on the second floor and there are no refrigerators for guests (we were told to store any leftovers in our car). Our room also lacked a "Do Not Disturb" sign to be able to use. The bed was uncomfortable enough to cause fitful, trouble sleeping for both of us, and it had pillows stained by age. To successfully use the room heater required flipping a switch in a separate location from the thermostat controls. The surge protector electrical power strip for guest use in the room had a loose connection that drained cellphones plugged into it instead of charging them. The bathroom sink was my least favorite room aspect, with a huge, open drain hole eagerly waiting to swallow anything dropped and no soap dish for the tiny piece of soap. The front desk staff was kind but the cleaning staff very rudely gossiped loudly outside of the rooms about their opinions of guests. We were also verbally hurried by the cleaning staff to checkout at 10:50. My boyfriend would rate our experience only 1 star and said he would never want to stay here again, but I'm giving it 3 because it was the lowest cost hotel room in all of PT when planning our trip. Lower in cost even than the "budget" hotels near Safeway! The location is convenient for tourists, it has good views (including of the water), and the chocolate shop located next door is a nice treat."
"Loved staying in this old building! So interesting and unique. The room felt enormous with it's crazy high ceilings. Perfect location. I know it's a historic building, but the rooms do feel like they could use an extra touch of historically accurate detailing, since those huge tall walls feel plain. Either way, I'd stay here again. But definitely unfortunate I wouldn't be able to bring elderly parents who can't do a giant flight of stairs."
