Reviews of The Empress Estate Wedding & Event
"My husband and I booked with The Empress Estate for our wedding of 8/26/2023. I waited several months to review as I wanted to let the excitement and chaos of the wedding settle. We spent 18 months planning our wedding and we were in communication with the venue during that entire time. Overall, things were nice. I am sure if you have done research of your own you can see that the venue is not cheap. I think the overall cost created high expectations for us as a couple. In addition to the venue, we rented the Airbnb overnight. There were some hiccups at the time of the wedding that are worth mentioning for those who plan to book. You may be able to avoid these things happening on your own wedding day. The day we got married was incredibly hot. So hot, in fact, one of our bridesmaids fainted during the ceremony. Our guests could not get back to the chateau, and to the cold water quick enough. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the water the venue provided. I believe they said they were on a well. The water tasted like chemicals and salt. Our guests could not drink it. We did not provide alcohol at our wedding as we do not drink. Our guests and family had to scramble together to go get beverages at the store despite being told we were not allowed to bring in any outside food or drinks. It was very hot, and the guests were dying of thirst. After about 15 minutes or so the venue did come out with bottles of water. The water was completely gone within 5 minutes. Luckily, we were able to supplement with the several cases of water our family purchased in a pinch. We did add to our package and purchase the additional Italian soda bar. The line for the bar was very long as people were thirsty. I am unsure if this was the reason for them closing the soda bar down before expected but it did close down. If you plan to add to your package, I definitely encourage you to find out quantity limits as we were not notified of that and did not think to ask. Another major problem was that the bees were so bad that we could not even enjoy our dinner. We sat on the deck for dinner. Bees swarmed the deck by the hundreds. Many people caught them in cups or kept having to wave them off their food. I do not do well with bees, so I did not even end up eating dinner with my husband. I got up and went inside. They were also swarming guests during our ceremony. Many people actually left the wedding due to serious bee allergies. I know this sounds like a silly "complaint" however the number of bees actually negatively impacted our wedding day. Several guests got stung. I wish we had been told about this. I believe the venue knew about the problem beforehand and chose not to disclose it. We paid a lot of money to rent the venue for a wedding size of 200 people. I would have just assumed that the venue would be doing their due diligence to ensure the grounds were managed, including for bees. The other big thing we were bummed about is that we rented the Airbnb overnight primarily so we could take photos in it. the staircase and ceiling painting are beautiful. We were told we would have access to the building for "check in" at 3pm. We had the entire wedding party down there and ready for photos hours after that and the doors were locked. We were unable to take any photos inside the mansion at all. I was definitely disappointed by this. It was an additional $1,000 and we could not even get in to take the photos after we were reassured, we would be able to. We really hoped that the brunch they served the next morning for our guests would make up for it, but the truth is the brunch was mid at best. My husband and I didn't even eat it. They actually served frozen pre-cooked "sausage" to our guests. I was shocked. I almost never write reviews or complain but after spending about $45,000 on our wedding and over $25,000 going to the venue I felt like it needed to be shared. I hope my experience can keep some of you other couples from making the same mistakes."
"READ ALL THE BAD REVIEWS FOR THIS PLACE AND USE CAUTION. This place will get one star because of the views it offers. I'm sorry to say that my experience with Empress Estate Weddings was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment we booked our event with them, it was clear that their primary concern was extracting as much money from us as possible, with little regard for our happiness or satisfaction. Firstly, let's talk about the food. I have never in my life tasted such abysmal offerings for a wedding. The options were not only limited, but the quality was shockingly poor. It's as if they raided the nearest dollar store for their ingredients. But the subpar food was only the beginning of our troubles. Dealing with Zoe at Empress Estate was like trying to navigate a minefield of indifference. After the first email, it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to respond. And don't even get me started on the cancellation process. When circumstances forced us to consider canceling our event, we thought it would be a straightforward matter to confirm everything via email. But oh no, Empress Estate had other ideas. They insisted on dragging the process out, refusing to provide any confirmation in writing and leaving us in limbo with no idea whether our cancellation had been processed or not. In summary, if you value your sanity, money, (or stomach) and want your special day to be anything other than a complete disaster, steer clear of Empress Estate at all costs. They are utterly incompetent, their food is barely edible, and their customer service is non-existent. Save yourself the stress and find a venue that cares about making your wedding day memorable for all the right reasons."
"So far so good. My fiance and I went for a tour here looking for future wedding venue. I'd say we were pretty lucky with having such a great experience since this was the first place we've visited. Olivia was very personable, and explained everything with ease. We did not feel pressured to jump into anything, or judged for our financial situation. Overall we were definitely pleasantly surprised. This is a beautiful venue with so much to offer. I'm not sure we'll have to look at any others after today."
"My husband and I married here on 10/21/2023 and I cannot tell you how Thankful we are that we selected this Venue. We had attended a wedding here once before and fell in love with this place. Working with the planner Sarah V. was fantastic and she was extremely helpful, professional and always available to answer questions. The day went off without a hitch, the food was fantastic, the staff were great and we had a beautiful day. I would recommend this venue to any couple!"
"I recently had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at this wonderful place and I must say, it was an absolute delight for me. From the moment I set foot on the estate, I was captivated by the natural beauty that surrounded me. The well-kept gardens and the historic estate itself created an enchanting backdrop that was nothing short of a photographer's dream. What really stood out to me was the variety of photo opportunities this venue offered. Whether I was capturing moments in the garden or within the elegant estate, every corner had a unique charm, and as a photographer, that's pure gold."
