Reviews of Maris Stella Inn
"Apt "C" top floor. Upon arrival enter into musty old smelling carpeted stairwell. Nice wood floors and kitchen counters are very nice. Centrally located with easy access to all Ocean Shores activities. Lots of beach access points to choose from. Can walk around town from condo. Lots of TP and paper towels. Great refrigerator. Lots of space. Room for queen air bed in 1 upstairs bedroom. Room downstairs as well fir 3 or 4 twin beds or 3 queens/doubles. Great for large parties I would say. We prefer more comfortable and updated accomodations. We will not be staying there again because; Very old molded windows. No screens on windows which makes it difficult to keep bugs out with windows open (gets warm inside). Upstairs bed very squeeky. Tub faucet doesn't work only shower. Kitchen sink faucet very loose. Not enough towels. Kitchen has no good knives (bring your own). TV works best using manual controls on the right side for viewing DVDs. Has a VHS player. Very dated interior uncomfortable sofa. Beds need updating. Niceties; Coffee maker works well Can cook meals (we have Celiacs Disease so eating out is not typically a great option in Ocean Shores). TV works with some effort. Remotes may need new batteries. Service from By The sea By the sea vacation rentals: I left a toothbrush charger once we checked out. I called several times to try and retrieve it but never received a call back. I left a $10.00 house keeping tip with suggestions re: items that needed fixing and extra towels next time. There is also a lengthy check in and out list. One more reason I/we will not be staying here again. By The See By the Sea also handles Air bnb in this area... Not sure how they are connected. Something to be aware of, however. We did loose our house key (can't seperate them - there are 2 ) which makes no sense. That was an urgent which was handled efficiently. If the keys could be separated that would not have been an issue however."
"This place was so nice. Very comfortable. The only thing that would be nice to see next time is new mattresses in both rooms and new burners for the stove top."
"Pictures on VRBO, do not match what you get. My husband and I stayed in the 3rd floor condo. The couch was tiny, the pull out was duct taped together. It smelled musty, there was black mold in all the windows. The shower head was dust taped and water pressure was horrible. The bed was hard and the pillows were very old and flat. Definitely not worth the price point."
"This is for the 3rd floor unit - Suite E: The good news – the stove, toilet, bathroom and kitchen sinks were clean upon our arrival. I had really wanted to like this odd little 3rd floor unit and am really very frustrated because with a little work and some creative remodeling, it could be really nice. But it is very obvious whoever owns this has spent as little as possible. The entire place looks like it was furnished from the dumpster behind Goodwill. I apologize for the length of this, but there were a lot of issues. If you look at the Maris Stella Inn website it states: The Maris Stella Inn is a clean and quiet building - that might be true if the flooring was different. We were on the third floor but could hear stomping from the unit below us. You could even hear the 2nd floor unit stomping from outside in the parking area. We offer: Hospitality clean units – I beg to differ, see my comments Full kitchens – not in the 3rd floor unit Stocked kitchens with pots, pans & dinnerware - hardly Quality furnishings with fresh linens and towels – see comments Carpeting – ranged from dirty to filthy. Sofa in living area looks very dirty and needs to be replaced – seen better days probably decades ago. Slider and window tracks caked with dirt and dead bugs Strange orange/red sofa in bedroom – literally coming apart at the seams so you can see the Styrofoam. Would be much better to get rid of and put in a dresser. Open closet area in bedroom – drywall put in but not painted. In general the entire place needs paint – you can see the drywall where things have come off the walls. Two smoke alarms were open and hanging from the ceiling. Is that even legal? Curtains over slider do not even cover the entire area and are dirty. Curtain rod is a piece of aluminum pipe with a Styrofoam ball on each end – spray painted black Kitchen faucet handle fell off – husband fixed so that we could use the sink. The kitchen counter area is ancient formica and there is very little space. Kitchen prep had to be done on the table. There is a microwave – in a closet in the living area. To use you must plug it into an extension cord. Probably a code violation. Refrigerator top hasn’t been cleaned in a long time, has a dusty fake geranium on top. Inside of refrigerator had signs of rust around metal screws Ceiling fan blades in living area are encrusted with dust and grime. Kitchen utensils: wooden spatula, spoon and fork, can opener, nut cracker, corkscrew and an ice cream scoop. Dinner plates did not match. There were no smaller plates. Four soup bowls, 2 plastic bowls – I think someone left them there – I saw the same ones at the market in town. Glassware was a mixed assortment. Two coffee mugs – one from Mervyn’s. Absolutely no serving dishes. There was only one teaspoon, several soup spoons, table knives and forks – again nothing matches. There were two knives – one a small serrated knife that literally would not cut anything and a really old plastic-handled knife that was pretty dull but did manage to cut some things. There were 4 sauce pans – two had lids. There were two 8-inch skillets. There were several kitchen towels – one had a huge hole. Bathroom towels were stained and mismatched. The only things in the bathroom that didn’t seem to be ancient were the shower curtain and bathmat. The baseboards and electric heater were very dirty. The shower head needs replacing – water doesn’t come out evenly and the pipe has been “repaired” with tape. Shower curtain rod is stained. Water is also an issue – the water has an orange tinge to it. It turned the washcloths orangey. We chose to purchase water to use in cooking. There is also a problem with the water temperature. If no one was occupying the other unit in the building there was adequate hot water. If people were in the other unit, there was only lukewarm water. Absolutely cannot recommend unless and until it gets an overhaul!"
"It was clean. The beds were hard . The kitchen was supplied like a hotel. There were only pans and dishes supplied. The stove was difficult to set the desired temperature. There were no markings on the knobs."
