Reviews of Kalaloch Lodge at Olympic National Park
"Honestly, this is an amazing place to stay while visiting the area. So close to all the top places recommended to visit in the area and right on the ocean. You can't really beat it for location and the staff we interacted with were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast at the lodge was very good and they have gluten-free options which I need. We stayed March 4 - 8 which is the off season and it was great even if a bit on the cold side, though we enjoyed pretty nice weather overall. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was clean, well-maintained, and very nice. The only issue we had at all was with the hot water which was very frustrating. There wasn't enough for two people to take showers close together so we had to decide who got one at night and who had to wait until morning which meant sleeping with the day's adventures on you. Even then there wasn't enough for me to shampoo, use conditioner, get it all rinsed out (I have very long hair) as well as scrub the day's dirt and sweat off before I was stuck in a freezing cold shower. It was quite miserable after being out all day and looking forward to a nice hot shower after coming in from the cold. In the bathroom, the water never really got hot, hot and the knob in the shower was backward directionally, hot first and keep turning for cold. If this was to save on hot water use, for the price per night it's a major fail. Guests should be able to enjoy a hot shower after being out hiking or tide-pooling in the rain and cold. For the price, you shouldn't have to wait hours between showers. Conversely, the water in the kitchenette was hot enough to burn your hands which we found extremely odd since it never got that hot in the shower. That is the only problem or complaint we had while here. I would definitely recommend staying here just be prepared for a cold shower. I gave it 5 stars because even with the hot water issue we had a really good time and still plan on staying again in the future."
"We were sad to see that some of the Bluff Cabins are in jeopardy from land slippage. Also, the stairs to the beach were washed away leaving no access to the ocean. Still, we had a very pleasant stay watching the Winter storms come in from the comfort of our cabin! The staff was very accommodating making sure we had everything that we needed for a stormy weekend. Tip- If you are traveling during the Winter, bring some battery lanterns and some food that does not require heating if the power goes out."
"We had a wonderful week in a cabin at Kalaloch Lodge. The cabin was lovely and clean. The kitchen was well-equipped with new looking pans, utensils, plates, cups and silverware, plus small fridge/freezer, microwave, and Keurig coffeemaker with coffee and teas. . The bed and bath linens were fresh and white, with nice bath products in dispensers in the bathroom. The employees were friendly and helpful. We spent 5 nights, so we had 3 full days to explore the park. We made it to many of the gorgeous beaches, the Hoh Rain Forest, Lake Crescent, the Quinault Rain Forest and a few smaller stops. They were all simply amazing. We had meals in the restaurant. The menu is small, and prices are fairly high, but that is typical in a National Park. The food was very good. I recommend the King Salmon dinner!"
"My nieces and I went on an Olympic National Park Tour. This lodge is beautiful. The beds were so comfortable, the rooms were clean. The views are quiet spectacular. Not sure why people are saying it’s outdated, everything was great. Had short ribs for dinner and it was delicious."
"Excellent Location on the coast. The nearby beaches were fantastic. The cabin was cozy and large. They give you a small bundle of firewood to burn in the wood burning stove each day. The only negative was the filthiness of the tile floors inside the cabin. We had to wear socks inside the cabin and they got filthy!"
