"My family and friends enjoy the Kent YMCA's open gym policy, which allows us to play basketball games and practice our skills. The YMCA understands that many of its members, especially those with children, enjoy using the open gym for basketball, and this location caters to this preference. I stopped going to the Matt Griffin YMCA because it often hosted different activities, which left only half of the gym available for basketball use sometimes, which was frustrating for many members. I appreciate the excellent customer service and professionalism of the Kent YMCA staff, and I am always impressed by the cleanliness of the facility."
"The Kent YMCA's failure to deliver on its advertised promises, especially in the context of open gym sessions for volleyball, showcases a significant lapse in service quality. The inability to set up a volleyball net during designated hours highlights a lack of preparedness among the staff and a potential disregard for patrons' expectations. Assigning blame to imaginary basketball players further exacerbates the issue, signaling a concerning lack of accountability within the organization. This discrepancy erodes the trust that members place in the YMCA, impacting its reputation as a dependable community fitness center. Urgent attention is required to rectify these operational deficiencies and restore the confidence of members who rightfully expect the facility to uphold its commitments."
"The staffing recently has been extremely uncooperative and has resulted in an incredibly frustrating experience. Due to their new "open gym" policies, we were told we were not allowed to set up volleyball nets and play on courts even though we are the first to arrive, along with the fact that almost no one else is using our side of the court. Their unwillingness to follow their own open gym guidelines of "first come first serve" as advertised on their website is nothing short of unprofessional behavior that is greatly infuriating to the players, including me, on the court. It's disappointing to see a place that strives for equality and a "culture free of bias" to exclude a group of people who are simply trying to have fun playing a sport. Would not recommend this place."
"The misleading advertising undermines the trust that members place in the YMCA as a reputable institution. Patrons rely on accurate information to plan their visits and make the most of their memberships. The failure to provide a basic amenity like a properly set up volleyball net not only reflects poorly on the facility but also diminishes the overall experience for those who frequent the Kent YMCA. It is crucial for the management to address these issues promptly and transparently to restore confidence among the members and ensure the facility lives up to its advertised standards."
"Select workers don't care for the people that want to enjoy the gym space. I was with around 10 friends wanting to set up the volleyball net in the gym so we could play. The worker refused to let us saying it was "basketball scheduling" when it clearly said on the schedule that it was open gym time for everyone. We have never had this problem on saturdays before, we just needed to have at least 10 people to want to set it up and we could. Not only that but we had to leave when only 2 basketball players were using one hoop in the entire gym and yet it was still a problem to set up the net when nobody was there. We always offer to set up and take down the net ourselves when we play and yet the worker still doesn't allow us to use the facilities that we paid membership for. We never have this problem with our favorite employee Warren who is kind and helpful to assist us, the new employee is rude, lazy, and just doesn't care about her job."
