Reviews of GYO GYO EN SEATTLE
"I ordered the chirashi sushi and hamburger steak bento to go from this restaurant. The fish used in chirashi sushi was quite fresh and didn't have much of a fishy taste, so I enjoyed it very much. Since it's a bit pricey, I can't afford to have it often, but it's definitely something I'd like to treat myself to whenever I have the chance. As for the hamburger steak, it was a bit tough, but when combined with the curry sauce that came with it, it created a great synergy. Although Seattle isn't particularly famous for its dining scene, this restaurant seems to be an exception. It's located near the downtown police station, which somehow gives me a sense of safety, and the interior of the restaurant is very well-maintained and clean. The staff members were also very friendly. I'm definitely considering coming back. I'm a fan of chirashi sushi and often go around trying different places, but this one matches the level of deliciousness I've experienced in Japan or Korea. I highly recommend it!"
"I had Premium Bara-Chirashi Bento and Aloha-Chirashi Bowl. Long story short, Premium Bara was 3.5/5 and Aloha was 4.5/5. Premium Bara: All the ingredients were fresh, but the amount of the sauce (I’m assuming it was soy sauce) was too much and it was just too overpowering. As a result, I couldn’t really taste the ingredients, but only the sauce. Aloha: It had spam and mayo, and as a result, it tasted closer to poke than regular chirashi bowl."
"There are 2 tables inside so this is mostly for take outs. I ordered online and picked it up to eat at my office. The overall presentation of the food was great. But the sushi rice was lacking flavor. I wished it was more sushi rice with vinegar and sugar but it was plain white rice with furikake. Tuna and uni were mediocre. I don't think I'd try chirashi bowl or sushi from this place again but I'd give curry a try next time!"
"So many excellent things to say about this small spot. When my wife and I walked by on a day they were closed we immediately knew we had to come back and try the food due to the style oozing out of the storefront, and we’re so glad we did. We got two of their special blue fin boxes as well as seaweed salad and salmon poke. The boxes were beautiful and filled to the brim with delicious fish and a few other little treats. We didn’t realize rice was in them (our bad) so I’ll just say you don’t need to order extra sides of rice like we did. The seaweed salad was perfect, and not sweet at all like some other places. The poke was not really “poke” but more just big chunks of good salmon with some interesting sauce on it. Next time we’d strictly stick to the boxes and seaweed salad because there are plenty of other more “accurate” poke places. Order online and get the discount (while it lasts). Also, while we were only inside briefly, the staff was friendly and kind and got our food out to us quickly."
"Came for dinner at this new japanese shop that just opened in slu. They are mostly takeaway but they have two small tables currently that each seat two. I believe they may add additional bar seating soon which would be great. They are currently serving a mix of poke bowls, ramen, bento boxes and curry. We tried the chirashi bowl and spicy miso salmon bowl and both were very good! It was about $25-30 for each bowl but the portions are pretty big. Service is great and staff are all friendly. Excited to see how the place evolves over time!"
