Reviews of Sunset Terrace Park
"Normally love this park but it's a bit run down, merry go round caution taped off, zipline doesn't work, bathrooms locked at 1pm. Many soft spots of the black tar cushion flooring"
"This has become our grandkids favorite playground in Tacoma. The playground itself has safety cushions to prevent injury from falls. We appreciated the diversity of children who come to play and it’s fun to see children of different ages, races and cultures playing so well together. Adults could learn from them! The rock climbing wall has lots of room to accommodate several kids of varying ages & skill levels. They even have a nearly extinct merry-go-round which is popular with all the kids. We were impressed by how nicely the older kids were when younger kids were riding. They take turns riding & spinning and I never felt it got too rowdy or unsafe, even when piled full of kids. There are two climbing slide structures and several swings, including a cute double swing that accommodates one baby/toddler facing another swing for an adult. Cute concept. Our grands’ favorite toy is the zip line which even our 3 year-old granddaughter rides like a boss. Again, the kids pitch into help each other get on to ride and they help pull the kids along to load & unload. There are relatively clean bathrooms (sometime they need to have toilet tissue replenished), and drinking fountains. The entire area is fenced in except for the entrance from parking area, so it’s easy to keep track of the kids. There are shaded benches for sitting to watch and a covered picnic area for gatherings or birthday parties. Not sure if they can be reserved, so I would check in with Tacoma Parks. Parking is available but somewhat limited due to popularity. An ice cream truck regularly patrols the area, with very overpriced frozen treats ($10 for two juice pops), so we tell our grands that when the music is playing it means they are out of ice cream! Lol. Defin"
"Fairly small park but my kids love the zip line here. And the tire swing thing. We will definitely keep coming here. They had access to bathrooms which aren't that clean but did have soap. There were homeless people in and out of the park but that's pretty normal I think. The parking lot is on a weird busy back road"
"Love the revamp they did on this park! Comes with two play structures; one for toddlers and one for bigger kids and several fun slides. There's also seesaw, merry-go-round, climbing structure, swings, tire swing, a covered area with picnic tables- perfect for a birthday celebration, and even a zipline! This park never disappoints :)"
"Nice little park. The play equipment is very nice, although the really cool zip line that has either been removed or stolen, needs to be replaced. It's the star attraction for the kids under 120lbs. Still worth the visit."
