"An extremely unpleasant experience, crossing the border today from Canada. I’m a legal resident of the US and often travel to Canada for travel. Today as I travel back into the US, I was encountered by a racist officer. We did some shopping while in Canada and purchased items that were made in China. While we didn’t think there would be any issues with the purchase since it was accessories and we had declared it. But the officer’s tone was very disrespectful. He treated us like we are criminals. He then sent us in saying because the items are made in china we have to pay a 25% tax on that item itself. But we had other items in the car that weren’t made in china that didn’t get taxed. He then proceeded to question our occupation and asked why we are able to afford this. To me, it didn’t seem like it should be his business of how and why I can afford it. But overall, I’ve never heard that items that are made in China must be taxed at 25%. Though I am more frustrated by the way the officers treated us. We are legal residents, traveling for leisure. Yet we are questioned as if we are criminals. But it seems he treated us like that because we are Asia. Very discriminating behaviors. These officers should be evaluated by an agency. I don’t think they should be allowed to treat people like that. It’s disrespectful and just an abuse of their power."
"A male officer treated us very rudely, intimidating and interrogating us for two hours just because we didn't report a Chinese-made bracelet to him. We were even fined $776. They asked us many questions, including where we work, and he even discriminated against us as Asians, questioning how a waiter could afford such an expensive item. He and his colleagues mocked us openly. They even searched through our car messily. It felt like a mockery, with him flaunting our taxpayer money. We felt completely disrespected and lacked any sense of being treated with dignity."
"I cross the border regularly with my husband for day trips. Today we were taking my friend who has a Hong Kong passport to Bellingham. Our first interaction was as usual, some smiles and some more serious faces. No big deal. We went inside to the counters so that we can get i94 visas for my friend and my husband. The moment officer Hadley called next my husband saw her roll her eyes and that was the beginning of a very unpleasant experience. She yelled at us because she wanted all our passports even before we all arrived at the counter, she was questioning us with a rude and aggressive tone and held us back longer than most people around us. She took my friends back bag and went through everything while interrogating him. She was on a power trip! I was looking around and all the other officers were normal and treating people like humans. Very young lady but she should be nicer to people because that can completely ruin their day and their experience coming to the US. We were in line for a long time and yet she was the angry one."
"Officers at the Peace Arch Port of Entry SEE and INTERROGATE all non U.S citizens like your a criminal..... moody behaviour by all officers. would be nice if they were monitored & reviewed by another independent agency / people onsite to see if they are doing there job correctly and fairly. im sure to many people are unfairly treated here just to enter the U.S. there screening process is very heavy and unfriendly even for people that are coming from first world countries to visit the U.S. they act and talk like you have done something wrong when all you want to do is just visit the U.S. they create a very unpleasant experience before entering. the feeling they create is like your not welcome here and what ever is happening now is most likely going to end with you getting rejected to enter because i just feel like it, reminder here this the felling you get when your not hiding anything. i understand there are people that want to come to stay and work in the U.S but seriously i am Australian citizen that has travelled the world clearly on the passport, live and come from a first world country, very unlikely for me to stay & work illegally and me and my wife got heavy interrogated. waste of our and there time & resources. they need to reinvent there screening process. officers need further training. you cant see, act and talk like everyone's a criminal. start of with your questions friendly and if you notice something that sounds odd then go diving with you interrogation mode. so highly suspicious of everyone. wrong sensing by the officers. paranoia to it's finest. further note. i was crossing from Canada you would think should be fine they should be less paranoid not like i landed in a plane from the middle east or crossing from mexico. i've already entered Canada. i'm a australian citzen. i'm traveling with my wife. further more i answered all your random questions. ask your questions it's your job ofcourse but dont treat people like there criminals wanting to enter your country. energy is off. eventually entered the U.S but the excitement to visit the U.S was destroyed by the U.S customs..... Forgot to mention the officer that approved our entry surprise surprise forgot to give us our orange form back to exit the port to enter the U.S with our vehicle. so we had drive back to the building and go back inside to get it from him as he forgot to give it to us. was just on his table. NO SORRY NOTHING LIKE WE FORGOT IT THERE. ACTING LIKE IT WAS OUR FAULT! a very unpleasant experience. i've always heard its disgusting to enter the U.S and sure it was even as a married couple. cant imagine if you tried to enter on your own. wishing all travellers travelling to the U.S a safe travel and be prepared to be INTERROGATED.... a few words / Sentences to summaries entering the U.S UNSAFE, UNFRIENDLY, UKNOWN, ANXIOUS, NOT WELCOMED, CRIMINAL, ILLEGAL, DETAINED , REJECTED, ARE YOU SURE? CANT IMAGINE CROSSING FROM MEXICO WITH A NON WESTERN COUNTRY PASSPORT"
"If you walk into the building at 3 AM like I did it’s very easy to get into the USA. Just showed them my passport, told them the reason for the stay, and on I went. The border worker even showed me the sidewalk into Blaine. Nice bunch in the dead hours of the night."
